bimos Cleanroom Stool with castors, synthetic leather Magic, seat height 450 to 650 mm, 9463R-MG01

The bimos Cleanroom Stool is a swivel stool with a gas spring for cleanrooms and ESD-protected areas. The ring release and the mechanism sit under a soft cover. According to the manufacturer, this is intended to prevent the release of particles from the mechanism and to avoid dust deposits. The aluminium star base is 540 mm in diameter, the seat surface is 400 mm with an upholstery thickness of 60 mm. There is a choice of three versions (castors, castors with foot release, glides with foot ring) and two black upholstery materials (synthetic leather Magic and Skintec). This results in six items.

Air cleanliness class and certificate

The manufacturer states air cleanliness class 3 according to DIN EN ISO 14644-1 for the Cleanroom Stool. For one model there is more: in the TESTED DEVICE certificate (no. IN 2409-1551, issued on 16 May 2025, valid for five years), Fraunhofer IPA attested for the stool system 9463R-MG01 in black that it is suitable for use in cleanrooms of air cleanliness class 2 according to ISO 14644-1. This is the castor stool with ring release and synthetic leather Magic. The basis is an examination according to ISO 14644-14; the seat surface was tested (1,200 N, 12 cycles per minute). According to its wording, the certificate applies only to this product in unchanged form.

For the other five items, the manufacturer’s information (class 3) applies; the Fraunhofer certificate does not mention them. Anyone who needs a certificate from the testing institute for qualification therefore chooses the stool with castors, without foot release and with synthetic leather Magic (9463R-MG01).

ESD according to DIN EN 61340-5-1

For the models 9463R, 9F63R and 9461R, bimos confirms in an ESD confirmation that they meet the requirements of DIN EN 61340-5-1 and ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021 for use in EPAs (ESD protected areas). The typical resistance to groundable point Rgp is 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohm. The discharge runs to the conductive floor covering or to the floor mat. Both upholstery materials are ESD versions according to the manufacturer (synthetic leather Magic ESD and Skintec ESD). Steel parts have a conductive coating according to the manufacturer. On the versions with castors, the castors are volume-conductive.

Three versions

The stool with castors (9463R) adjusts from 450 to 650 mm, and the adjustment range is 200 mm. The castors have a diameter of 65 mm and are, according to the manufacturer, smooth-running and easy to clean. The height is adjusted with the circumferential handle of the ring release under the seat surface, in any seat position.

The stool with castors and foot release (9F63R) ranges from 480 to 650 mm, and the adjustment range is 170 mm. In addition to the ring release, the height can be adjusted with the foot. According to the manufacturer, this works without using the hands and is particularly hygienic. Anyone who wants to adjust the height without hand contact chooses this version.

The stool with glides and foot ring (9461R) ranges from 560 to 830 mm, and the adjustment range is 270 mm. According to the manufacturer, normal castors are not permitted for safety reasons above a seat height of 650 mm. For this reason, this stool has large-area glides made of abrasion-resistant plastic. The chrome-plated foot ring is height-adjustable and, according to the manufacturer, has a wide tread surface.

Accessories from the manufacturer are also available: a foot ring for the stool with castors and seat-stop castors, which replace the glides on the stool with foot ring. According to the manufacturer, seat-stop castors lock under load and roll when the load is removed. Synthetic leather Magic or Skintec

Both upholstery materials are black, 60 mm thick and, according to the manufacturer, made as sealed upholstery in back-foamed construction with a smooth, closed surface. Synthetic leather Magic is PVC-free, washable and easy to care for. According to the manufacturer, it is insensitive to oils and resistant to commercially available disinfectants. According to the manufacturer’s information, damage from extremely sharp-edged objects cannot be ruled out. Skintec has a soft upholstery core and a robust surface. According to the manufacturer, it is easy to care for and resistant to commercially available disinfectants, and the resistance has been tested according to the manufacturer’s information. Which cleaning and disinfecting agents are suitable in an individual case should be clarified before use.
