How to configure your Bimos chair

Every Bimos chair in the shop is a modular system. You start by choosing the version, that is the seat height and whether the chair stands on castors or glides, then the upholstery and colour. With the NEON, the mechanism and the Flexband are added, and the upholstery there is a separate item. Armrests and the foot ring can be fitted later. The numbers in the diagram show where on the chair each decision sits.

TEXON, NEON or Saddle Stool: which chair for which workstation?

Three models, three ways of sitting. The TEXON is the comfort chair with a fixed Auto-Motion mechanism and interchangeable upholstery. The NEON is the modular system for many identical workstations, where chair and upholstery are ordered separately. The Saddle Stool is designed for short sitting phases and frequent changes.

Which upholstery for which workstation?

Four materials, each with its own focus. In the laboratory, what matters is whether the upholstery withstands disinfectants, in production, whether it withstands chips and slipping.

Synthetic leather Magic, for the laboratory

Care: wiping down is enough. Sharp-edged objects can damage the surface.

NEON: chair element plus upholstery element

The NEON is ordered as two items. The chair element is the chair without a cover: star base, mechanism, backrest with Flexband. The upholstery element is the set of seat and backrest upholstery and can later be swapped independently of the chair element. Anyone equipping ten identical workstations orders ten chair elements and chooses the upholstery per workstation, per shift or according to wear.

From the Bimos range on requestESD chairs, cleanroom chairs, the Labsit, the Nexxit, stools and sit-stand aids are not in the shop. We will ask Bimos and come back to you with price and lead time. Special colours and larger quantities also go through this route. Make an enquiry.
Reordering accessories and upholsteryArmrests, the foot ring and NEON upholstery elements are in the shop. Armrests and upholstery fit every version of the respective model, the foot ring is available as a spare part. For other spare parts we will ask Bimos, please give us the order number from the label under the seat.

Bimos at specialist dealer LT Laborhandel

Bimos is the brand for task chairs of Interstuhl Büromöbel GmbH & Co. KG from Meßstetten-Tieringen on the Swabian Jura. According to its own information, Bimos has been building chairs for industry and laboratory for more than 60 years. All Bimos work swivel chairs comply with DIN 68877 and carry the GS mark for tested safety, models with castors come as standard with load-dependent braked, soft castors for hard floors. According to its 2026 price list, Bimos grants a ten-year warranty on its products from the date of production, in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty terms, for products from 1 February 2016.

Frequently asked questions about Bimos chairs

Which seat height do I need?
The low versions of TEXON and NEON adjust from 450 to 620 mm, which is the range for laboratory tables and workbenches at standard height. The high versions run from 570 to 810 mm on the TEXON and from 560 to 820 mm on the NEON, and have a foot ring or a step-up aid so that your feet find support. The Saddle Stool covers 540 to 800 mm. The bar chart further up shows all five ranges side by side.
Castors or glides?
Glides for workstations where the chair should stay in place, and for the high versions. Castors for workstations with movement between the table and the equipment, on Bimos chairs load-dependent braked and soft for hard floors as standard. Anyone who needs castors at an elevated workstation chooses the TEXON version with seat-stop castors and foot ring.
Which upholstery withstands disinfectants?
Synthetic leather Magic and Skintec are, according to Bimos, resistant to commercially available disinfectants. Supertec is intended for production environments, cut- and slip-resistant. Fabric Duotec belongs in clean environments and is cared for with upholstery cleaners.
Why is the NEON delivered without upholstery?
The NEON consists of a chair element and an upholstery element. The chair element is the chair without a cover, the upholstery element is the set of seat and backrest upholstery that is fitted on top. This means the upholstery can be swapped or reordered later without buying a new chair. Both items are in the shop, the upholstery element fits every NEON version.
Auto-Motion, permanent-contact or synchronous mechanism?
Auto-Motion is the fixed mechanism of the TEXON for actively dynamic sitting, lockable in three settings, with weight regulation that adjusts automatically. On the NEON you choose: permanent-contact moves only the backrest when leaning back, synchronous mechanism moves seat and backrest in a fixed ratio. Both NEON mechanisms have weight regulation, seat depth, seat tilt and backrest height adjustment.
Can I fit armrests and a foot ring later?
Yes. The 4D armrests for the TEXON and the multifunction armrest for the NEON are separate items and fit every version of the respective model. The high TEXON versions already come with the foot ring, it is also available individually as a spare part. Whether it can be fitted later to a low version is something we clarify with Bimos before the order.
What warranty does Bimos give?
According to its 2026 price list, Bimos grants a ten-year warranty on its products from the date of production, in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty terms, for products from 1 February 2016. In the event of a warranty claim, please contact us, we will handle it with Bimos. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Are there Bimos chairs for ESD areas and cleanrooms?
Yes, Bimos offers ESD versions of the TEXON and NEON as well as cleanroom models, plus the Labsit, the Nexxit, stools and sit-stand aids. These are not in the shop, we source them on request with price and lead time.
