bimos Flex stool with castors, black, seat height 450 to 650 mm, 9408-2000

The bimos Flex is a work stool with a gas spring for workstations where users alternate between sitting and standing, for example at laboratory benches, at test stations and in production. The seat has a slip-resistant surface and an integrated back support, and the seat height is adjusted steplessly. There are four versions: Flex 1 with castors, Flex 2 with glides, Flex 3 with glides and foot ring, and the Cleanroom Flex 3 with aluminium star base. The seat is black on all versions and made of SoftTouch PU foam.

Castors, glides or foot ring

The Flex 1 with castors adjusts from 450 to 650 mm. It suits workstations at normal table height where you move between several places. According to the manufacturer, the castors are soft, braked depending on load and designed for hard floors such as concrete and tiles.

Flex 2 and Flex 3 have large-area glides made of abrasion-resistant plastic and range from 510 to 780 mm, which extends into the range of a standing aid. The manufacturer names glides for workstations where the chair has to provide support, for example for tasks requiring very high physical effort. The Flex 3 also has a chrome-plated, height-adjustable foot ring as a climbing aid. According to the manufacturer, it provides support when greater force is applied. For raised tables and installations, the Flex 3 is therefore the obvious choice; the Flex 2 is suitable if no foot ring is wanted.

Seat, back support and rotation

The seat is 360 mm wide and 380 mm deep, and 300 mm deep on the Cleanroom Flex. According to the manufacturer, the Wave surface is slip-resistant and the integrated back support supports the lumbar region. The seat can be rotated by 360°, which, according to the manufacturer, enlarges the radius of action.

Gas spring and star base

A self-supporting safety gas spring adjusts the seat height steplessly, over a range of 200 mm on the Flex 1 and 270 mm on the other three versions. According to the manufacturer, a cover protects the gas spring from dust and dirt. The star base is a five-legged undercarriage with flat-tapering feet, made of black plastic and 640 mm in diameter. According to the manufacturer, the flat foot ends reduce the risk of tripping.

Seat made of integral foam

SoftTouch PU foam is an integral foam, also called polyurethane or PU foam. According to the manufacturer, the surface is resistant, robust and washable and withstands pointed and sharp-edged objects. The manufacturer describes the integral foam as suitable for environments with oils, greases, metal chips, mild acids and alkalis, moisture or flying sparks. Which cleaning agents and disinfectants are suitable in an individual case should be clarified before use.

Cleanroom Flex with aluminium star base

The Cleanroom Flex corresponds to the Flex 3 in adjustment range, glides and foot ring. It differs in three points. The star base is made of polished aluminium and is 680 mm in diameter, the seat depth is 300 mm, and the upholstery is a sealed ESD integral foam in back-foamed construction. According to the manufacturer, the materials are suitable for cleanrooms, the surfaces are smooth and closed, the steel parts have a conductive coating and the comfort upholstery is conductive. According to the manufacturer, the cleanroom models are additionally sealed dust-tight.

For the Cleanroom Flex, the manufacturer states air cleanliness class 3 according to DIN EN ISO 14644-1 and ESD compliance according to DIN EN 61340-5-1. Both are manufacturer’s information. Flex 1 to Flex 3 are neither cleanroom nor ESD versions.

Excluded are wear parts such as foam parts made of integral foam, castors and surfaces of frames and star bases. The warranty conditions apply to Germany. Which seat heights are available?
The Flex with castors adjusts steplessly from 450 to 650 mm. The versions with glides and the Cleanroom Flex range from 510 to 780 mm.

Castors or glides?
Castors suit places where you move around a lot. The manufacturer names glides for workstations where the chair has to provide support. The versions from a seat height of 510 mm have glides.

Can the seat surface be wiped clean?
According to the manufacturer, the integral foam is washable and resistant. Please clarify with us before use which cleaning or disinfecting agents are suitable in an individual case.

Is the Flex an ESD version?
Only the Cleanroom Flex is ESD compliant according to the manufacturer. Flex 1 to Flex 3 in this range are not. There is a separate model, the ESD Flex with aluminium star base, which you can ask us about.

Is there proof of the air cleanliness class of the Cleanroom Flex?
Air cleanliness class 3 according to DIN EN ISO 14644-1 is manufacturer’s information. If you need proof for your cleanroom qualification, please talk to us.
