Buffer additions before a wash step usually affect a whole plate row at the same time. The Transferpette -12 electronic in the 1-20 µl range does this row by row across twelve channels in one stroke.

Digital adjustment

In all modes except GEL, digital adjustment is possible via the menu control (Easy Calibration). A PIP adjustment is automatically transferred to PIPmix and revPIP, while a DISP adjustment applies separately to the DISP mode only. With 12 channels, an adjustment made once affects all channels equally, and readjusting individual channels is not provided for.

Battery in multichannel operation

Three cylindrical AAA single cells (3.6 V, 700 mAh, NiMH) form the built-in battery, which drives all channels together and, when fully charged, lasts a whole pipetting day. Charging is done via a power supply for Europe with an input voltage of 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz and an output voltage of 6.5 V DC, 200 mA, which is included in the scope of delivery for this version. A replacement battery during a running series is not provided for in this series. Charging takes place via the power supply unit between two work steps.

Operating modes for multichannel applications

With highly viscous or foaming buffers, revPIP helps to dispense row by row without bubble formation.

Autoclave reprocessing

In contrast to the mechanical Transferpette S -12, only the unscrewable pipette shaft of the electronic version can be autoclaved, 121 °C, 2 bar, at least 15 minutes according to DIN EN 285. Afterwards, a joint reference run for all 12 channels on the handle section is mandatory.

Place within the Transferpette electronic family

In addition to the 12-channel version, there is the electronic multichannel pipette Transferpette -8 electronic with 8 channels in the same model system, and the electronic single-channel series Transferpette electronic is available for individual samples. Operating modes, adjustment procedure, battery and power supply are uniform across the whole electronic series, so laboratories with several channel numbers do not have to get used to different operating logic. Anyone who also wants to pipette mechanically will find the same number of channels in the Transferpette S -12 series.

Selection guide

The neighbouring variant 0.5-10 µl (MPN 705449) is available for smaller volumes, and the 5-100 µl version (MPN 705453) for larger assay steps. Number of channels, operating modes and adjustment procedure remain identical when changing between the volume steps of the same series. Only the test range, tip size and order number change.

Accuracy across the test range

Testing is carried out at three test volumes (100 %, 50 % and 10 % of the nominal volume). The systematic error is at 20 µl: ± 1.0 % / 10 µl: ± 2.0 % / 2 µl: ± 8.0 %, and the random error (coefficient of variation) at 20 µl: ± 0.5 % / 10 µl: ± 1.0 % / 2 µl: ± 3.0 %. Each of the 12 channels is subject to the same tolerance. As with any air cushion pipette, the relative deviation increases towards the lower test point and is tightest at the upper test point.
