Product information "Kern PBS 6000-2 precision balance 6,200 g / 0.01 g"

The Kern PBS is a multifunction laboratory balance with a single-cell weighing system in a die-cast aluminium housing. Four models weigh from 620 g to 6,200 g and read to 0.001 g or 0.01 g. The accuracy is adjusted with the CAL adjustment programme, using an external test weight. The stabilisation time is 2.5 s for all models.

CAL adjustment programme and external test weights

The CAL adjustment programme sets the accuracy. Kern supplies the test weights needed for this at extra cost (see accessories). The four-digit balance identification number is freely programmable and appears in the adjustment report. After every standstill of the balance, the data are automatically sent to a PC or printer, via RS-232 as standard.

Two weighing ranges per design

The PBS 600-3 (620 g) and the PBS 1000-3 (1,020 g) have a readability of 0.001 g, a plastic draught shield and a weighing pan measuring 113 x 110 mm. The PBS 4000-2 (4,200 g) and the PBS 6000-2 (6,200 g) have a readability of 0.01 g and a larger weighing pan measuring 176 x 189 mm. The housing measures 191 x 317 x 79 mm; the models with a draught shield measure 202 x 317 x 166 mm with the draught shield fitted. According to the data sheet, a hook for below-balance weighing is included in the scope of delivery.

Dosing, counting and totalling

A high-stability mode and other filter settings are available as a dosing aid. When weighing within a tolerance range (checkweighing), a visual signal supports portioning, dosing or sorting. The balance adds up weight values and counts pieces. The units can be switched between, including kg, g, mg, ct, lb and oz. The LCD display features 14 mm high digits. The plug-in mains adaptor operates at 100 V to 240 V and 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The permissible range is 10 °C to 30 °C and up to 80 % humidity.

Typical applications

  • Laboratory applications: weighing to 0.001 g with draught shield (PBS 600-3, PBS 1000-3)
  • Pharmaceutical applications: balance ID in the adjustment report
  • Quality control: checkweighing and piece counting up to 6.2 kg
  • Time-based recording: data output after every standstill of the balance

Calibration

For the PBS series, Kern does not list a conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU). A DAkkS calibration certificate can be ordered separately; the item number is listed in the model table. The confirmation of manufacturer specification (969-517) is only available in conjunction with the DAkkS calibration certificate.
