Macherey-Nagel’s MN 619 pleated filters are an indispensable consumable for high-quality analytical chemistry and routine laboratory tasks. This type is characterised by a slow filtration rate (approx. 100 seconds in accordance with DIN 53137) and a particularly high retention capacity. This makes the paper ideally suited for reliably separating very fine precipitates and turbidity from liquids.
Why pleated filters rather than round filters?
Standard round filters lie flat against the funnel wall, which reduces the effective filtration area. The MN 619 pleated filters are pre-folded and ready for use straight from the factory.
- Larger surface area: The pleated structure greatly increases the active filtration area.
- Faster flow rate: Although the paper’s pore structure is ‘slow’ (very dense), the pleating allows a significantly higher volume flow rate to be achieved in a shorter time, as the liquid can drain away more easily.
- Time savings: The laborious and error-prone manual folding of filter paper is completely eliminated. You can insert the filters directly into the glass funnel.
