MACHEREY-NAGEL’s MN 85/70 BF glass fibre round filters are the premium choice for analytical filtration in the laboratory. The key abbreviation ‘BF’ stands for ‘binder-free’. These filters consist of 100% pure borosilicate glass fibres, without any addition of organic adhesives or binders.
This absolute purity makes the filters extremely chemically resistant and thermally stable. They do not leach, do not contaminate your analytical results with organic extracts, and are biologically inert.
Features and benefits
- Extreme temperature resistance: As there are no organic binders that can burn, the MN 85/70 BF filters can withstand temperatures of up to 500 °C. This makes them indispensable for the gravimetric determination of suspended solids (e.g. ignition residue in water analysis).
- High chemical resistance: They are resistant to most acids, alkalis and aggressive solvents (with the exception of hydrofluoric acid and highly concentrated alkalis).
- Fine retention capacity: With a nominal retention size of 0.6 µm, they reliably filter even the finest precipitates and turbidity from your samples.
- Fast filtration: Despite their fine pore structure, glass fibre filters offer an excellent flow rate and are less prone to rapid clogging than comparable cellulose filters.
