SAUTER FK 500 Digital Force Gauge (500 N / 0.2 N)

The SAUTER FK 500 (manufactured by KERN & SOHN) is a robust, digital force gauge for the precise measurement of tensile and compressive forces up to 500 newtons. It combines a high measurement frequency of 1000 Hz with ease of use, making it the ideal entry-level instrument for quality inspections, safety analyses and material testing. Thanks to its ergonomically shaped plastic housing, the device sits securely in the hand, but can also be mounted on all SAUTER test rigs (up to 5 kN) for reproducible series measurements.

Intelligent measurement functions

For dynamic measurement tasks, the FK 500 offers two main operating modes: the ‘Track’ function continuously displays the applied force in real time, whilst the ‘Peak-Hold’ mode ‘freezes’ the highest measured peak value (e.g. during tear tests or fracture tests) on the display. A special feature is the reversible display: thanks to automatic direction detection, the display rotates by 180° as soon as the device is used upside down, eliminating reading errors in difficult positions.

Flexibility and Power

The device can be used universally worldwide, as it can measure in the units N, lbf, kgf and ozf as standard. The power supply is hybrid in design: the included batteries (6x AA) ensure independence for mobile field testing, whilst the supplied mains adaptor ensures continuous stationary operation in the laboratory. To save energy, the measuring device switches off automatically when not in use (Auto-Power-Off).
