Sauter FS 2-500OY1 force measuring set with button load cell, compressive force, 500 N / 0.1 N

The Sauter FS OY1 are force measuring sets for compressive forces from 500 N to 20 kN in a confined space. They consist of the FS 2 force gauge and a miniature button load cell from the CO series (type Y1) made of stainless steel. There are four models to choose from: FS 2-500OY1 (500 N, 0.1 N readability), FS 2-2KOY1 (2 kN, 0.4 N), FS 2-5KOY1 (5 kN, 1 N) and FS 2-20KOY1 (20 kN, 4 N). The load cells measure compression only and have compact dimensions ranging from 20 x 12 mm to 30 x 18 mm.

Compact load cell

The button load cells are small: the FS 2-500OY1 and FS 2-2KOY1 measure 20 x 12 mm, the FS 2-5KOY1 26 x 15 mm and the FS 2-20KOY1 30 x 18 mm (round). This means they fit into gaps, under springs or in fixtures where there is no room for larger load cells. The dust and splash protection corresponds to IP65. Kern specifies accuracy class OIML G5 with a combined error of 0.5 % F.S.

The FS 2 as a display unit

The FS 2 is operated via a 3.5-inch touchscreen using a touch pen and has two measuring channels, which can be expanded to four. The cell data is stored in the connector. The device therefore recognises the measuring range and characteristic values as soon as the cell is inserted. It shows current values (track), captures peak values and checks against a tolerance. The sampling rate is up to 1,000 Hz per channel.

Data, adjustment, rechargeable battery

The device memory holds 16 GB. Data is transferred to a PC via USB-C; this connection also powers the device. Adjustment can be carried out using two weights or numerically. According to Kern, the Li-ion rechargeable battery lasts up to 8 h without backlight and 5 h with backlight; charging takes approx. 8 h. The power supply, USB cable type C and device are in the Systainer T-LOC.

This series measures compression only. For tensile and compressive testing with small load cells, the OY2 series is available up to 1 kN; for higher capacities, the RY1 and SP1 series are available.

Calibration

Factory calibration certificates and DAkkS calibration certificates for compressive force are available as separate items for each measuring range. The item numbers are listed in the model table. The calibration procedure for the DAkkS certificates is DKD-R 3-3 (procedure A). According to Kern, the factory calibration certificate for the FS 2-20KOY1 is valid for 5 kN to 20 kN.

Warranty

According to Kern & Sohn, these devices come with a 3-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.

Further load cells of types CO, CR and CS, torque sensors of the DC series, the A/D converter module FS 34, the transport case FS TKZ, screw clamps (AC 14), clamps of the AE series (AE 01 to AE 07) and the power supply adaptor YKA-01 for UK are also available.
