Product information "WTW SenTix Mic pH semi-microelectrode with stepped shaft, liquid electrolyte, S7 connector, 103647"
A vial containing a few millilitres of sample, a beaker of enzyme solution or a container of saliva: the WTW SenTix Mic is designed for samples such as these. The pH semi-micro electrode has a glass shaft with a stepped design, measuring 12 mm in diameter at the top and 5 mm at the bottom. It is refillable, has an S7 plug head and measures from 0 to 14 pH at sample temperatures ranging from 0 to 100 °C.
Stepped shaft, 5 mm membrane and ceramic junction
The stepped shaft measures 40/80 mm in length and 12/5 mm in diameter. The cylindrical membrane has a diameter of 5 mm. The junction is made of ceramic; the reference electrolyte is 3 mol/l KCl, Ag+-free. The membrane resistance is less than 700 MΩ. A dropper bottle for refilling is included according to the WTW instructions.
Typical applications according to WTW
- Small sample volumes and measurements in vials
- Saliva
- Enzyme solutions, gastric juice, infusion solutions and protein-containing liquids
- Serum, Tris buffer solutions and urine
Connection and alternatives
The SenTix Mic has an S7 plug head and is supplied without a cable. Depending on the measuring instrument, one of the WTW connection cables AS/DIN (1 m, 108110), AS/DIN-3 (3 m, 108112) or AS/BNC (1 m, 108114) fits. There is no built-in temperature sensor; the temperature is either entered on the measuring instrument or measured using an external sensor. With a 3 mm shaft diameter and a fixed cable, the SenTix Mic-D is available with a DIN plug and the Mic-B with a BNC plug.
Commissioning and storage
Before the first measurement, remove the wetting cap; gas bubbles behind the membrane can be removed by shaking. For short measurement breaks, immerse the electrode in reference electrolyte (3 mol/l KCl, Ag+-free) with the refill opening open. Overnight and for longer periods, it stays in the wetting cap, filled with reference electrolyte, with the refill opening closed. According to WTW, storing the electrode in a dry state or in deionised water can cause permanent damage. If the cap has dried out, the electrode needs at least 24 hours in reference electrolyte. As with any pH electrode, strong acids and alkalis, hydrofluoric acid, organic solvents, oils, fats and proteins shorten its service life.
