Intelligent IDS sensor technology and reliable digital measurement

The mechatronic system architecture of the SenTix Sp-T 900-P is based on pioneering IDS (Intelligent Digital Sensors) technology. The highly sensitive analogue voltage signal from the measuring chain is digitised and calibrated directly within the sensor head. This transient signal processing completely eliminates electromagnetic interference, such as that which may be caused by surrounding production equipment, electric motors or moisture in slaughterhouses and dairies. The integrated data memory permanently stores the electrode’s specific serial number as well as a complete history of the last 10 calibrations. The automatic sensor evaluation system QSC (Quality Sensor Control) continuously monitors the current condition of the electrode and displays it on the measuring instrument, guaranteeing maximum validity at every test stage.

Robust penetration design with impact-resistant plastic shaft

The materials-science-based design is uncompromisingly optimised for the mechanical stresses encountered when piercing tough foods and pastes. The electrode features an extremely robust, lance-shaped glass piercing tip that merges into a durable plastic shaft. This hybrid construction offers optimum protection against mechanical damage and the risk of splintering during mobile field use or directly on the production line. The Referid polymer electrolyte, which has a lifetime of service, serves as the reference system. In combination with a non-clogging perforated diaphragm, constant and stable surface contact is achieved. As no conventional porous diaphragm is used, fats, proteins or fibre structures cannot block the measuring path, which drastically extends the sensor’s service life in the harsh conditions of everyday laboratory use.

Integrated temperature compensation and universal plug-in head

To ensure thermodynamically correct analyses, the SenTix Sp-T 900-P features a built-in 30 kOhm NTC temperature sensor, positioned directly behind the insertion tip, which performs automatic, real-time temperature compensation of the pH value. An outstanding ergonomic feature of this variant is the universal IDS plug-in head. The sensor does not have a permanently attached cable; instead, it can be connected to the measuring station with great flexibility, either via an AS IDS connection cable or completely wirelessly via a WTW radio module. This protects the system from mechanical stress caused by cable tension and improves the user’s freedom of movement in confined laboratory workstations or during field measurements.

For regular recalibration and to ensure the integrity of the metrological chain, we offer certified WTW technical buffer solutions (pH 4.01 and pH 7.00). As protein and fat residues from foodstuffs can build up on the glass membrane over time, we strongly recommend periodic cleaning with genuine WTW pepsin-hydrochloric acid solution to regenerate the membrane, as well as correct storage in KCl storage solution.
