Aqualabo ODEON Open One base unit without sensor, portable multi-parameter measuring device with one sensor channel, NC-POR-C-00103

Product information "Aqualabo ODEON Open One base unit without sensor, portable multi-parameter measuring device with one sensor channel, NC-POR-C-00103"

Not every purchase requires a complete sensor set: those who already have digital PONSEL sensors in stock, or who wish to operate several devices using a shared sensor pool, can use the Aqualabo ODEON Open One base unit to order just the measurement platform as a replacement. The base unit features one sensor channel, a large graphic display, 8 MB of memory for GLP-compliant data sets and the ODEON Viewer PC software, but does not include a sensor.

What’s inside the main unit

The base unit automatically recognises any compatible digital PONSEL sensor via the 6-pin grey metal connector and carries out a self-diagnosis; manual configuration is not required. The 4-inch backlit display, with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, allows up to 7 parameters to be viewed simultaneously, along with the date, time, user, sample, temperature, status and air pressure. The 8 MB memory stores more than 100,000 GLP-compliant data records, each with a sample ID, user ID, date and time; there are three recording modes to choose from: manual, interval or continuous. The housing and connections are IP67-rated.

Who the basic unit is suitable for

Typical use cases include replacing a faulty or lost ODEON device, where the existing sensors are to be reused, or setting up a larger sensor pool comprising several base units, between which teams can switch the appropriate sensor depending on the measurement task. As sensor detection takes place automatically, no device needs to remain permanently assigned to a specific sensor. Anyone who does not yet own a sensor and is looking for a complete, ready-to-use set will find the right model, complete with sensor and cable, at Aqualabo ODEON Open One. The basic unit is also a cost-effective solution for training courses and reference measurements where a device is regularly switched between different tasks.

Sensors for the base unit

The base unit accommodates any of the seven digital PONSEL sensors, which are also available as part of the complete ODEON Open One set: OPTOD for dissolved oxygen, PHEHT for pH, redox and temperature, PHT for pH and temperature (without redox), C4E for conductivity and salinity, NTU for turbidity, MES5 for suspended solids and VB5 for sludge level. Each sensor can be ordered with a 3 m, 7 m or 15 m cable, depending on how far the measuring point is from the control station. As the unit automatically recognises the sensors, it is possible to switch between different sensor types on a base unit whilst the system is running.

Data export and software

The main unit is connected via the standard 7-pin metal plug, which is used both for the USB connection to the PC and for charging. The supplied ODEON Viewer software analyses the stored measurement series in tabular and graphical form and exports them as CSV, XLS, XLSX, JPEG, PNG, TIF or PDF files, for example for internal GLP documentation. The memory manages sample, campaign and user IDs alphanumerically, with up to 10 characters and up to 20 users, which makes it easier to assign measurement series to individual people or projects.

Energy supply and resilience

The base unit comes fitted with 4 AA-size alkaline batteries as standard; optionally, rechargeable NiMH batteries or an external 12 V power supply can be used. Depending on the configuration, a single charge provides between 145 and 190 hours of operation. The housing is IP67-rated and, according to the data sheet, is designed for a temperature range of -25 to +60 °C; it can be stored at temperatures ranging from -25 to +65 °C. These values apply regardless of which sensor is currently connected, as they relate to the base unit itself.

Typical applications

As a measurement platform with a replaceable sensor channel, the base unit is suitable for, amongst other things:

  • Replacement of existing ODEON units where sensors are already in place
  • Setting up a sensor pool for multiple measuring points or teams
  • Municipal and industrial wastewater treatment
  • Field monitoring of drinking water and surface water
