Aqualabo ODEON X base unit without sensor, portable multi-parameter measuring device with two sensor channels, NC-POR-C-00093

Product information "Aqualabo ODEON X base unit without sensor, portable multi-parameter measuring device with two sensor channels, NC-POR-C-00093"

Two sensor channels, but no sensor included: The Aqualabo ODEON X base unit is designed for anyone who already owns digital PONSEL sensors or who wishes to put together their own specific sensor configuration. It features the same measurement platform as the fully equipped ODEON X sets, including the large graphic display, the GLP-compliant memory and the ODEON Viewer PC software, but without a sensor and, according to the manufacturer, without a charger.

Two channels, one platform

Each of the two sensor ports, Sensor 1 and Sensor 2, automatically recognises a connected digital PONSEL sensor and performs a self-diagnosis. The 4-inch, backlit graphic display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels allows the readings from both channels to be viewed simultaneously, along with up to 7 parameters. The 8 MB memory stores more than 100,000 GLP-compliant data records, each with a sample ID, user ID, date and time, recorded either manually, at intervals or continuously.

Who the base unit is suitable for

The base unit is ideal for businesses that already own one or two suitable sensors – for example, from an existing ODEON or NEON OPEN stock – and wish to continue using them with a two-channel unit. It is also suitable for setting up a pool of devices, where sensors can be swapped between several base units depending on the measurement task. Those looking instead for a ready-to-use set including a sensor and cable will find what they need in the Aqualabo ODEON X with its matching combination sets. As no charger is included in the scope of delivery, the base unit is particularly suitable for users who can already make use of an Aqualabo charger from an existing ODEON or NEON-OPEN stock, or who order the appropriate accessory kit at the same time.

Sensor combinations for the base unit

The price list for the ODEON X features three sensor types, available individually or in combination: PHEHT for pH, redox and temperature; PHT for pH and temperature without redox; and C4E for conductivity and salinity. This allows, for example, a PHEHT and a C4E sensor to be combined on the base unit to measure pH and conductivity simultaneously, or two identical sensors to be used for redundant measurements. Each sensor is available with a 3 m, 7 m or 15 m cable, depending on the distance between the measurement point and the control station.

Data export and documentation

Both channels record their measured values in the same GLP-compliant data set, including sample ID, user ID, date and time, so that combined measurements such as pH and conductivity do not need to be merged manually at a later stage. The data is transferred via the USB cable to the supplied ODEON Viewer software, which displays it in tabular and graphical form and exports it as CSV, XLS, XLSX, JPEG, PNG, TIF or PDF. Sample, campaign and user IDs can be assigned using alphanumeric characters of up to 10 characters; up to 20 users can be managed, which simplifies the allocation of measurement series in teams using multiple base units.

Power supply and robustness

The base unit is fitted with 4 AA-size alkaline batteries as standard; optionally, rechargeable NiMH batteries or an external 12 V power supply can be used, with a runtime of between 145 and 190 hours depending on the configuration. The housing is rated to IP67; according to the current data sheet, the operating temperature range is from –25 to +50 °C, whilst the device can be stored at temperatures ranging from –25 to +65 °C. Connection and charging are carried out via the same 7-pin metal connector, to which a USB cable or charger can be connected as required.

Typical applications

With two freely configurable sensor channels, the base unit is suitable for, amongst other things:

  • Expanding an existing sensor fleet with a second measuring device featuring two channels
  • Setting up a pool of devices for teams with varying measurement tasks
  • Municipal and industrial wastewater treatment with combined pH and conductivity monitoring
  • Monitoring of drinking water and surface water in the field

Regulatory information

As an electrical appliance, the ODEON X base unit is subject to the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). At the end of its useful life, the unit must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be taken to a separate collection point for waste electrical and electronic equipment.
