Product information "Bandelin SONOPULS GM 4200 Ultrasonic Generator for HD-4000 Homogenisers, 20 kHz, 200 W Rated Power, 3711"
The Bandelin SONOPULS GM 4200 is the electronic unit for the smaller models in the SONOPULS HD 4000 series: It converts the mains voltage into a high-frequency voltage of 20 kHz and, in doing so, automatically adapts to the connected transducer via an automatic resonance frequency search.
Compatible transducers and homogenisers
The GM 4200 is designed for use with the HD 4050, HD 4100 and HD 4200 homogenisers and can be combined with the UW 50, UW 100 or UW 200 ultrasonic transducers. Depending on the transducer, it delivers a maximum power output of 50, 100 or 200 W. The GM 4200 is already included in the SONOPULS HD 4050 and SONOPULS HD 4100 sets. When purchased as a standalone item, it can be combined with a transducer of your choice. The SONOPULS GM 4400 is designed for use with the UW 400 transducer.
Settings on the unit
The amplitude is adjusted from 10 to 100 per cent in 1-per-cent increments; the current value is shown on the backlit LCD display. The ultrasound treatment time can be set up to 9 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds; alternatively, the generator can operate continuously. For pulsed sonication, working intervals of 0.2 to 600 seconds and rest intervals of 0.3 to 600 seconds can be set. The energy input is displayed in kilojoules. Nine programme memory slots are available for frequently used settings, and an RS-232 interface is provided.
Optional temperature measurement
When used with a TM 50 or TM 100 temperature probe, the GM 4200 displays the sample temperature within a range of minus 10 to plus 120 °C. The probe is not included in the Scope of delivery and must be ordered separately if required. Other accessories from the SONOPULS range include ultrasonic transducers, sonotrodes and the TS 8 foot switch.
Housing and connections
The unit measures 335 x 150 x 230 mm and weighs approximately 3.2 kg. It is rated to IP 30 (DIN EN 60529) and belongs to protection class I. It is operated at 230 V~ (± 10 %) at 50/60 Hz, or alternatively at 115 V~ (± 10 %). Bandelin specifies a peak power of 800 W and a rated power of 200 W. The generator is designed to comply with safety standard EN 61010-1 and EMC standard EN 61326-1, and bears the CE marking in accordance with the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives.
Typical applications
- Operation of SONOPULS-HD-4000 ultrasonic homogenisers with a transducer power of 50 to 200 W
- Cell lysis of cells, bacteria, viruses and tissue
- Production of ultra-fine emulsions and homogenisation of substances
- Degassing of liquids and sample preparation for particle size analysis
- Acceleration of chemical reactions
