Product information "Bandelin SONOPULS HD 4100 Ultrasonic Homogeniser, Rod Sonication 3 to 50 ml, 100 W"
The Bandelin SONOPULS HD 4100 sits between the small-scale applications of the HD 4050 and the litre-scale applications of the HD 4400. The unit, with a nominal power of 100 W and a frequency of 20 kHz, is designed for sonication volumes of 3 to 50 ml and accommodates sample volumes of 2 to 200 ml. It comprises the GM 4200 generator, the UW 100 ultrasonic transducer, an SH 100 G stepped horn and the TS 103 sonotrode with a diameter of 3 mm.
Stepped horn and sonotrode
Unlike the HD 4050, a stepped horn is positioned between the transducer and the sonotrode. The SH 100 G is included in the scope of delivery; the TS 103 sonotrode is intended for sonication volumes of 3 to 50 ml. Sonotrodes are available with diameters of 2, 3, 4.5, 6, 9 and 13 mm. The tool for fitting the sonotrodes is included in the set. Accessories include, amongst others, the titanium sonotrodes TS 106, TS 109, TS 216 and TS 413, the TS 113 V sonotrode extension, and the TH 100 G stepped horn with a fixed tip and the FZ 5 G as a flow-through stepped horn.
Control and display
The amplitude can be set from 10 to 100 %; the current value is displayed, and the AMPLICHRON circuit ensures a constant amplitude. Ultrasonic treatment can be carried out for up to 9 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds or continuously. The working interval in pulse mode ranges from 0.2 to 600 seconds, and the rest interval from 0.3 to 600 seconds. Energy is displayed in kilojoules. The set can be operated remotely. The SONOPULS GM 4200 features nine programme memory slots, an illuminated LCD graphic display and automatic resonance frequency search.
Accessories for flow, cooling and set-up
The SONOPULS range offers several options for setting up the apparatus around the sample: the flow vessels DG 3, DG 4 G and DG 6, the cooling vessels KG 3 and KG 5, the beaker resonator BR 30 and the rosette cells RZ 1 to RZ 3. Standard ground joint adaptors NA 29 G and NA 45 G, the flange adaptor FA 3 G, the holding frame HG 40 and the noise protection box LS 40 complete the workstation. In addition, there are the TM 50 temperature probe, the DMS 10 torque wrench and the HS 40/42 hook wrenches in short and long versions.
Position within the HD-4000 series
The SONOPULS HD 4050, with 50 W, covers 0.5 to 20 ml, whilst the SONOPULS HD 4400, with 400 W, processes 500 to 2,000 ml. The HD 4100 falls in between, covering 3 to 50 ml. The set is supplied with a CEE 7/7 mains plug for 230 V~ (± 10 %), 50/60 Hz. Bandelin also offers it as a 115 V version and with UK, Swiss or US plugs.
Typical applications
- Disruption of cells, bacteria, viruses and tissue
- Production of ultra-fine emulsions
- Homogenisation of substances
- Degassing of liquids
- Sample preparation for particle size analysis
- Acceleration of chemical reactions
