Product information "Bandelin SONOPULS HD 4400 Ultrasonic Homogeniser, Rod Sonication 500 to 2,000 ml, 400 W"
A sample volume of half a litre to two litres, that is the range of the Bandelin SONOPULS HD 4400. This homogeniser, with a nominal power of 400 W and a frequency of 20 kHz, is the large model in the HD 4000 series and is supplied as a ready-to-use set: GM 4400 generator, UW 400 ultrasonic transducer, SH 400 G booster horn and TS 425 titanium sonotrode with a diameter of 25 mm.
Ultrasonic processing on a litre scale
The basic configuration is designed for sonication volumes of 500 to 2,000 ml. The unit itself accommodates sample volumes of 100 to 3,000 ml. The TS 425 titanium sonotrode has a diameter of 25 mm and is fitted to the SH 400 G booster horn of the UW 400 transducer. The tool for fitting the sonotrodes is included in the set. Other sonotrodes include the TS 416 and TS 432 titanium sonotrodes, as well as the TS 425 L, and the TR 110 disc resonator.
The GM 4400 generator
The SONOPULS GM 4400 in the set operates with a peak ultrasonic power of 1,600 W and a nominal ultrasonic power of 400 W. It automatically searches for the resonance frequency, stores nine programmes and displays settings on an illuminated LCD graphic display. The amplitude is adjustable from 10 to 100 %; the AMPLICHRON circuit ensures a constant amplitude, and the current value remains visible. The treatment time ranges up to 9 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds or can run continuously; in pulse mode, working intervals of 0.2 to 600 seconds and rest intervals of 0.3 to 600 seconds are possible. Energy is displayed in kilojoules.
Set-up for large samples
The HD 4400 is available with rosette cells RZ 3, RZ 4 and RZ 5, cooling vessels KG 3 and KG 5, and flow vessels DG 3, DG 5, DG 6 and DZ 300 E. Adapters available include the standard ground joint adaptors NA 29 G and NA 45 G, as well as the flange adaptor FA 3 G. The HG 40 holding frame, LS 40 noise protection box and TM 50 temperature sensor complete the workstation. The sensor displays the sample temperature in the range from -10 to +120 °C on the generator.
Classification and connection
Smaller sample volumes are sonicated by the SONOPULS HD 4050 (0.5 to 20 ml) and the SONOPULS HD 4100 (3 to 50 ml). The HD 4400 is fitted with the UW 400 transducer. In the EU version, the generator is powered by 230 V~ (± 10 %), 50/60 Hz and has a CEE 7/7 mains plug. According to the operating instructions, the generators of the SONOPULS series are also available for 115 V~ (± 10 %), 50/60 Hz; Bandelin also offers versions with UK, Swiss or US plugs.
Typical applications
- Disruption of cells, bacteria, viruses and tissue
- Production of ultra-fine emulsions
- Homogenisation of substances
- Degassing of liquids
- Sample preparation for particle size analysis
- Acceleration of chemical reactions
