With a peak power output of 1,200 W and a rated power output of 300 W, the Bandelin SONOREX GT 503 M-C is a generator designed for the smaller ZE built-in ultrasonic baths: It operates at 35 kHz in the ZE 1031 and ZE 1031 DT models, which have a tank measuring 510 x 300 mm internally and holding 29 l. It is also available as a standalone unit.
Use in the ZE 1031
The SONOREX ZE 1031 features a TE 1031 oscillating tank with eight vibration systems on the base, a working capacity of 20 l and the ST 15.1 control unit with a rotary knob. In the ZE 1031 DT, operation is handled by the ST 30.1 DT control unit, which features push-buttons, a temperature sensor, a temperature display and an overtemperature warning. In both cases, the GT 503 M-C provides the ultrasonic power. For the larger baths, the ZE 1058 and ZE 1059, the GT 1003 M-C with a rated power of 600 W is specified instead.
Key electrical specifications
The generator operates at 230 V~ (± 10 %) and 50/60 Hz, drawing 1.4 A; at 115 V, the current is 2.8 A. The leakage current is less than 3.5 mA. It is overload-protected and maintains a constant output. The pulse and sweep functions are available, whilst DEGAS rapid degassing is available with the DT version of the bath. The generator is connected to the ST control unit via an IEC 60320-C14 plug.
Housing and mounting
The housing is made of painted aluminium, measures 360 x 310 x 142 mm and is rated to IP 20. A mounting bracket allows for vertical installation, with the option to mount it on the left or right-hand side.
The bath for the generator
The ZE 1031’s tank is made of 1.4404 stainless steel with a wall thickness of 2.0 mm. The base is sloped, the corners are rounded, and the drain is a 1½-inch bead in the tank. The oscillating tank is rated to IP 30 and is connected to the generator via a 2-metre-long connection cable with an AMP-CPC plug. The permissible ambient temperature is between 5 and 40 °C. With the ZE 1031, the time can be set from 1 to 15 minutes (± 5 %) or to continuous operation; with the ZE 1031 DT, settings ranging from 1 to 30 minutes are available.

Bandelin lists the GT 503 M-C as a Class I medical device in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/745. In addition, the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, the EMC Directive 2014/30/EU and the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU apply. The ZE 1031 and ZE 1031 DT built-in baths are designed for the cleaning of medical instruments.
