With a built-in ultrasonic bath, the control unit determines the extent to which settings can be adjusted and monitored. The Bandelin SONOREX ZE 1031 DT features the ST 30.1 DT control unit, which includes push-button controls, a temperature sensor, a temperature display and an over-temperature warning. Beneath this is the TE 1031 oscillating tank, with a capacity of 29.0 l, designed for under-counter installation.

ST 30.1 DT control unit

The time can be selected from eight fixed settings: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes (± 5 %); alternatively, the bath can run in continuous operation. Functions include the pulse function, sweep and the DEGAS rapid degassing function for freshly prepared liquids. The temperature sensor provides the readings for the display; the control unit issues a warning in the event of an overtemperature. The bath switches off automatically after 12 hours.

TE 1031 bath and generator

The internal dimensions are 510 x 300 mm with a depth of 200/220 mm (inclined tank bottom); the base is sloped and the corners are rounded. The material is 1.4404 stainless steel with a thickness of 2.0 mm. Eight vibration systems on the base are powered by the GT 503 M-C ultrasonic generator: 300 watts rated power, 1,200 watts peak power, 35 kHz. The generator has its own aluminium housing (360 x 310 x 142 mm, IP 20) with a mounting bracket for vertical installation. A 2 m long connection cable leads to the tank.

Of the 29.0-litre capacity, 20.0 l is the working volume; a level mark indicates the fill level. The drain is located in a 1½-inch bead. The oscillating tank measures 570 x 360 x 270/290 mm externally and has an IP 30 protection rating.

The difference compared to the ZE 1031 with a rotary handle

The mechanics and performance of the SONOREX ZE 1031 are the same; the tank and generator are identical. The ZE 1031 features the ST 15.1 control unit with a rotary knob and timers ranging from 1 to 15 minutes. The DT version also features a temperature display, DEGAS and a 30-minute timer setting. If you need to keep an eye on the bath temperature, choose the DT. If you only need times up to 15 minutes, the rotary knob will suffice. The SONOREX ZE 1032 DT offers higher sound power and additional side oscillators whilst maintaining the same tank volume.

Installation notes

The bath and generator are separate units; the 2-metre length of the connection cable determines the distance between them. The generator has degree of protection IP 20 and is mounted vertically using the mounting bracket; the oscillating tank has IP 30. These ratings should be taken into account when planning the installation location, as must the permissible ambient temperature of 5 to 40 °C. The FT 36 film test frame is included with the kit.
