The Bandelin SONOREX smart ST 514 BH is an ultrasonic bath with a heating element and a total capacity of 18.7 litres, designed specifically to address this need. Via the touchscreen, power, temperature and cleaning duration can be adjusted in fine increments and saved as a custom programme, ensuring that recurring cleaning cycles can be reproduced consistently at any time.

Touchscreen operation with ten programme memories

Instead of traditional rotary controls or individual buttons, a touchscreen handles all operation of the ST 514 BH. The ultrasonic power can be adjusted from 10 to 100 per cent in 1 per cent increments, the temperature from 20 to 80 °C in 1 K increments, and the timer accepts any value from 1 second to 8 hours in 1-second increments. Up to ten programmes can be saved in the unit using these settings and recalled at the touch of a finger. For example, one programme can be set up for intensive rough cleaning of heavily soiled workpieces and a second for the gentle cleaning of sensitive instruments; both can be recalled at any time without the need for further adjustment. An integrated ECO programme further reduces energy consumption when the bath does not need to be running at full capacity.

Powerful ultrasound with DEGAS, Sweep, Pulse and Interval

The ultrasonic generator operates at a frequency of 40 kHz with a rated power of 215 W and a peak power of 860 W. The DEGAS function degasses freshly prepared cleaning fluid before the actual cleaning process, thereby preventing dissolved air bubbles from weakening the cavitation effect. The Sweep function continuously varies the frequency slightly to prevent standing waves in the tank and to achieve a uniform cleaning effect throughout the bath. Pulse and interval modes further adjust the cleaning intensity to suit items of varying sensitivity.

Ultrasonic bath with heater: 600 W for constant bath temperatures

Many cleaning agents only achieve their full effectiveness at elevated temperatures. The ST 514 BH’s 600 W heater covers a range from 20 to 80 °C, adjustable in 1 K increments, so that the bath temperature can be precisely matched to the cleaning concentrate being used. Drainage is via a G ½ left-hand ball valve, so that the bath can be emptied after cleaning without having to tip it or decant the contents.

System bus interface for the DST 01 docking station

The ST 514 BH can be connected to the DST 01 docking station via a system bus interface with an M12 connector (4-pin), allowing it to be integrated into networked cleaning processes in which several units are to be operated together.

Robust stainless steel design for continuous use

The tank and housing are made of 1.4301 stainless steel. The tank is 1.0 mm thick and has internal dimensions of 325 × 300 × 200 mm, with a total capacity of 18.7 litres and a working capacity of 12.5 litres. With external dimensions of 355 × 325 × 350 mm – measured excluding handles and ball valve – and a net weight of 10.3 kg, the unit can be accommodated on any laboratory bench or workbench. Protection rating IP 32 and protection class I ensure safe operation in everyday use in laboratories, medical practices and workshops.

Connection, warranty and delivery

The unit is connected via a permanently fitted, 2-metre-long mains cable to a 230 V AC supply (±10 %, 50/60 Hz) with a current consumption of 3.6 A. Bandelin provides a 2-year warranty on the SONOREX smart ST 514 BH; packed ready for dispatch, the unit weighs 12.6 kg with packaging dimensions of 475 × 445 × 465 mm.

Successor to the SONOREX DIGIPLUS DL 514 BH, compatible with existing accessories

The ST 514 BH is the successor to the now-discontinued SONOREX DIGIPLUS DL 514 BH and features exactly the same tank size and performance class. Anyone already using a lid, hanging basket, hanging tank, insert cup or insert grid for a 514 model can continue to use these accessories directly on the new ST 514 BH; there is no need to switch to new accessory sizes. Compared to its predecessor, the ST 514 BH features a touchscreen control panel instead of individual buttons, finer power adjustment in 1 per cent increments rather than 10 per cent, a freely selectable timer instead of fixed time settings, ten programme memory slots and the system bus interface for the docking station.

The device contains a lithium backup battery (CR 2032 button cell, 3 V) for the programme memory. In accordance with the Battery Act, batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return used batteries; this can be done free of charge at local authority collection points and at any shop where batteries of the relevant type are sold.
