Product information "Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 1040 ultrasonic bath, 39.5 litres, 319"
Within the SUPER-RK series, the Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 1040 stands out due to its shape: instead of a rectangular tank, it has a round tank with a diameter of 500 mm. With a total capacity of 39.5 litres and a working capacity of 28 litres, this ultrasonic bath is suitable for larger batches of laboratory glassware, tools or components. Like the other models in the series, it is classified as a Class I medical device in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/745.
Round tank for large batches without heating
The RK 1040 operates without heating and is therefore suitable for applications where pure ultrasonic energy is sufficient or where heat would adversely affect the items being cleaned or the cleaning medium. At 35 kHz, the unit generates a peak power of 1,520 watts and a rated power of 380 watts via eight transducer systems. The tank is made of 1.4301 stainless steel with a thickness of 2.5 mm, which is greater than the 1.0 mm thickness of the smaller RK 1028 H, reflecting the larger tank surface area and higher filling volume. The automatic SweepTec function distributes the sound field evenly and prevents standing waves in the tank.
Selection guide and dispatch for large batches
With a working capacity of 28 litres, the RK 1040 sits between the RK 1028 series, which ranges from 19 to 30 litres, and the largest model, the RK 1050, with 41 litres. Anyone requiring a more robust tank made from 1.4404 instead of the standard 1.4301 tank will find this in the RK 1028 C or the RK 1050. Due to its weight and dimensions, the RK 1040 is dispatched on a Euro pallet; the net weight is 19.9 kg, whilst the shipping weight, including the box and pallet, is 45.0 kg. This must be taken into account when planning delivery, for example if no forklift or pallet truck is available on site.
Typical applications
- Cleaning large batches of laboratory glassware, tools and components
- Degassing of solvents and aqueous media prior to analytical procedures
- Workshop and industrial applications without temperature requirements
- Cleaning tasks where a round tank promotes more uniform sound distribution
Position within the SUPER-RK series
Bandelin’s SUPER-RK series covers volumes ranging from less than one litre for the RK 31 up to 58 litres for the RK 1050, with or without heating, and with either a standard or a 1.4404 tank. For digital displays and push-button operation instead of a rotary knob, Bandelin offers the SONOREX DIGITEC range, although so far only in smaller sizes up to 13 litres. In addition to Bandelin, we also stock ultrasonic baths from Elma; their Elmasonic P series operates with switchable dual-frequency technology, offering an alternative for laboratories that do not wish to clean continuously at 35 kHz.
Use and maintenance
The tank is filled to a working capacity of 28 litres; the total volume of 39.5 litres refers to the tank filled to the brim without any items to be cleaned. The ball valve on the drain, specified in the data sheet as G 1/2 inch on the right-hand side of the unit, is used for draining. The K 40 hanging basket and D 40 lid are available as accessories and are not included in the Scope of delivery. The power cable is 2 metres long and permanently fitted; the unit operates on either 230 V or 115 V at 50/60 Hz, and the housing has an IP 32 protection rating.
