When several beakers, sieves or larger sets of instruments need to be cleaned at the same time, 9 or 10 litres quickly proves to be insufficient. The Bandelin SONOREX SUPER RK 514 BH has a total capacity of 18.7 litres and a working capacity of 12.5 litres, a noticeably greater capacity, whilst remaining part of the SUPER RK series operated by a rotary handle.

Four oscillation systems for larger batches

At an operating frequency of 35 kHz, 860 watts of peak power and 215 watts of rated power are distributed across four oscillation systems; the SweepTec function ensures that, even with this larger tank volume, no standing waves are generated and cavitation acts uniformly, regardless of whether there are several smaller objects or a single large beaker in the bath.

600-watt heater for demanding cleaning tasks

The heater covers a range of 30 to 80 °C, with dry-run protection to prevent damage if the liquid level is too low. Cleaning duration and temperature can be adjusted independently using two rotary knobs; the timer ranges from 1 to 15 minutes (± 5 %) or continuous operation for longer cleaning cycles.

Larger tank than the smaller SUPER RK models

The tank and housing are made of 1.4301 stainless steel with a thickness of 1.0 mm; the internal dimensions of 325 x 300 x 200 mm offer significantly more space than the smaller SUPER RK models. With external dimensions of 355 x 325 x 385 mm and a net weight of 9.8 kg, the unit remains portable. A G 1/2 ball valve on the left-hand side allows the larger volume of water to be drained without tilting the unit.

Selection guide: when the RK 514 BH is suitable

If the capacity of the RK 510 H (9.7 litres) is no longer sufficient because several beakers or a larger set of instruments need to be cleaned simultaneously on a regular basis, the RK 514 BH, with a capacity of 18.7 litres, is the next logical step within the SUPER RK series. If even more capacity is required, for example, for entire sieves or larger batches, models such as the RK 1028 H, with a capacity of 28 litres, are available.

Use and maintenance

The working capacity of 12.5 litres is significantly less than the total capacity of 18.7 litres, allowing several beakers to be placed inside at the same time without the liquid spilling over the rim. A concentrate from Bandelin’s TICKOPUR range is suitable for the cleaning fluid; with this volume, a more generous refill quantity is recommended. Before the first cycle with freshly prepared medium, a short run-in period in continuous operation helps to remove trapped air. After the final cleaning cycle of the day, the tank can be quickly emptied via the ball valve.
