bimos ESD Fin sit-stand stool for laboratory and ESD areas, seat height 620 to 850 mm

The bimos ESD Fin is a sit-stand stool for workstations in ESD protected areas (EPAs) where most of the work is done standing, for example at raised tables. According to the ESD declaration from bimos, the series meets the requirements of DIN EN 61340-5-1 and ANSI/ESD S20.20-2021 for use in EPAs. The extra-wide comfort seat is mounted on a gas spring and can be adjusted steplessly from 620 to 850 mm. bimos offers the ESD version with a black seat made of SoftTouch PU foam; the frame is made of aluminium in brilliant silver.

ESD properties according to the manufacturer’s specification

bimos states a typical resistance to groundable point (Rgp) of 10⁵ to 10⁷ ohms for the ESD Fin. The performance features give 10⁶ ohms as the typical value. According to the declaration, the sit-stand stool can dissipate charges on persons to the conductive flooring or floor mat. As standard equipment, bimos lists conductively coated steel parts and conductive comfort upholstery; bimos describes the star base as electrically conductive. The ESD declaration is a manufacturer’s declaration from bimos and not a test report from an independent test laboratory.

Sit-stand stool for raised workstations

On a sit-stand stool, you lean against the seat and continue working standing up. According to the manufacturer, 60 % of the body weight then rests on the seat instead of on the legs and feet. The seat height ranges from 620 to 850 mm. The manufacturer describes the adjustment range of 230 mm as extra large. The self-supporting safety gas spring adjusts the height steplessly.

Comfort seat with handles and rotation

The seat is extra-wide and has two integrated handles. They can also be used to carry the sit-stand stool. The seat swivels up to 20° to the left and right, which, according to the manufacturer, extends the radius of action during dynamic work, for example when changing between table and installation.

Seat surface made of integral foam

SoftTouch PU foam is an integral foam, also called polyurethane or PU foam. According to the manufacturer, the surface is resistant, robust and washable and withstands pointed and sharp-edged objects. The manufacturer names integral foam for environments with oils, greases, metal chips, mild acids and alkalis or moisture. Which cleaning agents and disinfectants are suitable in an individual case, also with regard to the ESD property, should be clarified before use.

Frame, interchangeable glides and load capacity

The base and column are made of aluminium with a brilliant silver coating. The column is tilted 4° forwards. According to the manufacturer, this keeps the user in a slightly forward-leaning, active working posture. The footprint of the frame measures 525 x 335 mm; according to the manufacturer, it is small and trip-proof. The scope of delivery includes interchangeable glides made of felt or plastic, which, according to bimos, are intended for hard and soft floors. According to the manufacturer, the load capacity is 120 kg.

Warranty

bimos grants a 3-year full warranty from delivery. From the fourth to the tenth year, bimos supplies spare parts free of charge; labour and call-out are then charged. Excluded are wear parts such as cover materials, foam parts made of integral foam, upholstery and surfaces of frames and star bases. The warranty conditions apply to Germany. Frequently asked questions about the ESD Fin

Is the Fin also available without ESD?
Yes. The standard version of the Fin is available with a black, blue or grey seat. It is not an ESD version.

Is there proof of the ESD property?
bimos issues an ESD declaration, which you can download below. It names the ESD Fin series and the typical resistance to groundable point, but no individual item numbers. The documents do not give individual values for components such as the interchangeable glides. If you need further proof for an ESD audit, please talk to us.

Can the seat surface be wiped clean?
According to the manufacturer, the integral foam is washable. For care, the operating instructions refer to bimos.de/cleaning.html. Please clarify with us before use which products are suitable for your application.
