Binder FD 260 drying and heating cabinet with forced air circulation, 230 V, 9010-0309

Product information "Binder FD 260 drying and heating cabinet with forced air circulation, 230 V, 9010-0309"

The Binder FD 260 from the FD Avantgarde.Line series is a forced-air drying and heating cabinet designed for applications requiring particularly rapid drying and sterilisation. A powerful fan ensures uniform temperature distribution throughout the entire chamber, whilst Binder’s APT.line technology guarantees high spatial and temporal temperature accuracy. With a chamber volume of 259 litres and a temperature range from 10 °C above room temperature up to 300 °C, the FD 260 covers a wide range of applications.

The unit is designed for energy efficiency: according to the manufacturer, the FD 260 is up to 30 per cent more energy-efficient than standard units on the market. It is operated via a controller with an LCD display, and a USB port enables data logging. A Class 2 temperature selector limiter in accordance with DIN 12880, featuring a visual alarm, is already integrated.

Precise temperature control and fast heating times

At 150 °C, the FD 260 achieves a spatial temperature deviation of 1.9 ± K and a temporal deviation of 0.4 ± K. The heating time to 150 °C is approximately 19 minutes; once the door is opened, the setpoint temperature is reached again after about 5 minutes. At 100 °C, the air exchange rate is 9 air changes per hour, which is important for uniform and rapid drying. The integrated Class 2 temperature selector limiter in accordance with DIN 12880, featuring a visual alarm, offers additional process reliability, for example during unattended drying or sterilisation cycles. With a maximum load of 40 kg per tray or 270 kg total load, the FD 260 is also designed for heavier samples and material batches.

Typical applications

A drying and heating oven such as the FD 260 is typically used for drying laboratory glassware and sample material, for the heat treatment of material samples, and for sterilisation processes in quality assurance, research and industrial manufacturing. The homogeneous temperature distribution and the rapid thermal dynamics of the forced-air circulation system also make the unit suitable for time-critical testing and drying processes where reproducible, consistent results are essential.

Operation, features and noise levels in everyday laboratory use

The FD 260 is controlled via a controller with an LCD display and features a programme memory that allows recurring drying and sterilisation cycles to be stored. The exhaust air flap is controlled electromechanically, enabling the air exchange rate to be adjusted to suit the specific process. The scope of delivery includes two chrome-plated insert racks; if required, the interior can be expanded to accommodate up to eight racks. The ergonomic handle design facilitates operation in day-to-day laboratory work, and with a sound pressure level of just 43 dB(A), the unit operates pleasantly quietly even during continuous use.

In terms of energy consumption, the FD 260 uses 245 Wh/h when operating at 100 °C and 410 Wh/h at 150 °C. Combined with what the manufacturer claims is up to 30 per cent greater energy efficiency compared to standard market models, this is particularly noticeable during frequent or continuous use in laboratory settings, such as during batch testing or in multi-shift operation.
