Product information "Binder KB PRO 130 cooling incubator, extended temperature range minus 20 to 100 °C, 127 l, 9020-0433"
The Binder KB PRO 130 is the smallest model in the KB PRO series and, with a usable volume of 127 litres, covers a temperature range from minus 20 °C to plus 100 °C. Unlike the KB series, which operates within a range of 0 °C to 70 °C, the KB PRO 130 thus also opens up applications in the deep-freeze range and for higher temperature profiles, for example when samples need to be stabilised below the freezing point or thermal tests need to be carried out well above the standard incubation temperature, whilst maintaining a compact footprint.
Compressor cooling with extended temperature range and R-290
The KB PRO 130 utilises an inverter chiller with the natural refrigerant R-290. At 37 °C, the spatial temperature deviation is ±0.2 K, the temporal deviation is ±0.1 K, and the maximum heat compensation is 450 W. The patented APT.line preheating chamber technology ensures uniform temperature distribution inside the chamber. After the door has been open for 30 seconds, the setpoint temperature of 37 °C is reached again after around 2 minutes; energy consumption is 155 Wh/h at 25 °C and 160 Wh/h at 37 °C.
Typical applications
The extended temperature range makes the KB PRO 130 a versatile tool wherever conventional cooling incubation reaches its limits. Typical applications:
- Microbiological incubation and cold stress tests with bacterial, yeast and fungal cultures
- Stability testing in pharmaceutical quality control across a wide temperature range
- Sensory and shelf-life tests in food analysis, including under frozen conditions
- Material testing and research with defined temperature profiles from minus 20 °C to 100 °C
- Compact controlled incubation in research and teaching where floor space is limited
Features and operation in everyday laboratory use
The interior of the KB PRO 130 is made entirely of stainless steel; the inner door is made of metal oxide-coated safety glass and allows visual inspection of the samples without having to open the door. A door heater prevents condensation from forming. Two stainless steel grid shelves with telescopic rails are included as standard; the interior can be expanded to accommodate up to 6 grid shelves, each with a load capacity of 30 kg, with a maximum total load of 200 kg. A 30 mm diameter feed-through with a silicone plug allows external sensor or measurement cables to be fed through. To ensure process reliability, an independent Class 3.3 adjustable temperature monitor according to DIN 12880, featuring visual and audible alarms, is integrated; an internal data logger records the measured values and can be read out via USB. The APT-COM Basic Edition management software is included as standard, whilst a device self-test enables a comprehensive status analysis.
