Product information "Binder KBECO 1020 refrigerated incubator with Peltier technology, 1,020 l, 230 V, 9020-0425"
At the top end of the KBECO series is the BINDER KBECO 1020 refrigerated incubator with a net volume of 1,020 litres, the largest model in BINDER’s range of Peltier-based refrigerated incubators. Where smaller units reach their capacity limits, the KBECO 1020 offers sufficient space for extensive sample collections or multiple parallel test series, whilst remaining true to the refrigerant-free Peltier principle. The temperature range of 0 °C to +70 °C and the energy-efficient cooling technology remain identical to those of the smaller KBECO models, but with a significantly larger interior.
Maximum KBECO capacity whilst maintaining Peltier efficiency
The KBECO 1020 also uses electric cooling via a Peltier module with patented heat dissipation, entirely without a refrigerant circuit. At a maximum of 26 °C below ambient temperature, the unit reliably achieves even lower setpoint temperatures within the large 1,020-litre interior. The APT.line preheating chamber technology ensures uniform air circulation temperature control throughout the entire volume – a key factor when samples at different positions within the interior require the same temperature accuracy.
Features for high-capacity operation
The inner chamber is made entirely of stainless steel, whilst the inner door, made of safety glass, allows visual inspection of the large interior without opening the door. Two stainless steel shelf racks are included as standard and, given this chamber volume, can be flexibly arranged across multiple levels. An adjustable anti-condensation guard and a feed-through with a silicone plug (Ø 30 mm) for external probes or cables are also included. With a net weight of 327 kg and external dimensions of 1,250 x 1,149 x 1,925 mm, the KBECO 1020 is a floor-standing unit that requires a dedicated space to be allocated from the outset when planning a laboratory.
Documentation for extensive sample collections
An LCD display shows the temperature, additional information and alarms. The internal data logger continuously records measurement values and can be read out in an open format via USB; for a unit of this size, with potentially many different sample batches, this is a key component for seamless GLP documentation. A device self-test provides a comprehensive status analysis, whilst the Ethernet interface enables integration into a central monitoring system for continuous remote monitoring.
Typical applications
With a capacity of 1,020 litres, the KBECO 1020 is designed for laboratories with a particularly high sample throughput, such as in industrial quality assurance departments operating multiple shifts, in pharmaceutical stability testing involving many parallel batches, or in research facilities that need to maintain larger sample stocks at a cool temperature over extended periods. The 1,020-litre model is also an obvious choice as a centralised refrigerated incubator, replacing several smaller units and thereby consolidating floor space and reducing energy consumption in the laboratory.
- Large-volume batch testing in industrial and pharmaceutical quality assurance
- Centralised refrigerated incubation for laboratories with high sample volumes
- Long-term storage and incubation of large sample batches in research
- Replacement of several smaller refrigerated incubators with a single central unit
Selection guide: choosing the right model
With four sizes ranging from 247 to 1,020 litres, the KBECO series covers a wide range of capacities using refrigerant-free Peltier technology. The table below compares the usable volume and external dimensions of all sizes.
| KBECO 240 | 247 l | 925 x 796 x 1,461 mm |
| KBECO 400 | 400 l | 925 × 796 × 1,946 mm |
| KBECO 720 | 700 l | 1,250 x 885 x 1,925 mm |
| KBECO 1020 | 1,020 l | 1,250 x 1,149 x 1,925 mm |
With a capacity of 1,020 litres, the KBECO 1020 is the largest model in the series. For those requiring less capacity, the Binder KBECO 720 refrigerated incubator offers the next smaller size at 700 litres, with a smaller footprint.
Differences from the neighbouring series
If you are looking for conventional compressor cooling with even larger models instead of Peltier technology, the KB series offers capacities of up to 1,070 litres, for example in the Binder KB 720 refrigerated incubator, which has a similar volume to the smaller KBECO model. If a temperature range below freezing point or above 70 °C is also required, the KB PRO series covers this with compressor technology and capacities of up to 1,610 litres. Within the Peltier range, the KT series is limited to a maximum of 163 litres and is therefore not an alternative for a volume such as that of the KBECO 1020.
Frequently asked questions before purchase
How much does the KBECO 1020 weigh?
The unit weighs 327 kg net with external dimensions of 1,250 x 1,149 x 1,925 mm, making it a floor-standing unit requiring a fixed installation space.
How much cooler than ambient temperature does the KBECO 1020 get?
To a maximum of 26 °C below the respective ambient temperature, within a total range of 0 °C to +70 °C.
Is the KBECO 1020 suitable for multiple parallel batches?
Yes, with a capacity of 1,020 litres and flexibly configurable shelf racks, it can accommodate several sample series simultaneously, which is practical for industrial or pharmaceutical quality assurance involving high sample volumes.
Can the KBECO 1020 be monitored centrally?
The Ethernet interface allows integration into a central monitoring system for the continuous remote monitoring of multiple units.
