Product information "Brand Transferpette S -8 Multichannel Pipette, 8-Channel, 0.5-10 µl, DE-M, 705900"
In molecular biology, a single small addition often decides the quality of an entire batch. The Transferpette S -8 with 8 channels in the 0.5-10 µl range is designed for exactly such minimal volumes, distributed column by column across a 96-well plate.
Each of the 8 pistons is individually manufactured and tested, and model M8-10 covers the 0.5-10 µl range with an increment of 0.01 µl. Matching tips in the 0.5-20 µl range sit firmly on all channels at the same time and can be removed without contact via the ejection mechanism. Because all 8 pistons are guided in a common housing, the effort required for aspirating and dispensing across the whole number of channels remains comparable to a single-channel pipette.
Adjustment without tools
Using Easy Calibration, the volume can be corrected at the adjustment slider under the label window, a volume offset compensates for deviations with special media or site conditions. No additional tool is needed for this, as the adjustment is made directly on the pipette body.
Reprocessing in the autoclave
The Transferpette S -8 is fully autoclavable, 121 °C, 2 bar, at least 15 minutes according to DIN EN 285. Dismantling into individual parts before sterilisation is therefore not necessary. On the electronic sister series, the Transferpette -8 electronic, only the unscrewable pipette shaft can be autoclaved, which is a significant difference between the mechanical and the electronic version.
Ergonomics in series operation
With 8 pistons guided in parallel, the effort for aspirating and dispensing requires a housing that does not overtax the span of the hand. The pipette body of the Transferpette S -8 is designed for continuous use on the microtitre plate, and the finger stroke remains even across the entire 0.5-10 µl range. The grip section and tip cone are kept neutral in colour, and the number of channels itself is clearly legible on the housing.
Place within the Transferpette S family
In addition to the 8-channel version, there is the Transferpette S -12 with 12 channels in the same model system, and the single-channel series Transferpette S Fix and Variable is available for individual samples. Model, adjustment method and autoclavability are uniform across the entire series, so laboratories with several channel counts do not have to adapt to different operating logics.
Selection guide
Anyone who regularly dispenses beyond 10 µl will find the next larger range of the same series in the neighbouring variant with 5-50 µl (MPN 705906), without changing the operating logic. Channel count, model and adjustment method stay identical when switching between volume steps of the same series, only the test range and the corresponding tip size change. If you are unsure which range suits your protocol, base the choice on the volume you pipette most often within the series and pick the range in which this volume lies as close as possible to the upper test point.
Typical applications
- Addition of enzyme and master mix column by column in PCR preparations
- dispensing the smallest reagent quantities in parallel across eight wells
- pipetting in the lowest microlitre range for molecular biology series batches
Accuracy across the test range
Testing is carried out at three test volumes (100 %, 50 % and 10 % of the nominal volume 0.5-10 µl). The systematic measurement error is given as 10 µl: ± 1.6 % / 5 µl: ± 2 % / 1 µl: ± 8 %, the random measurement error (coefficient of variation) as 10 µl: ± 1.0 % / 5 µl: ± 2 % / 1 µl: ± 6 %. As with any air displacement pipette, the relative deviation grows towards the lower test point and is tightest at the upper test point. For daily series work this means: batches close to the nominal volume can be reproduced most tightly, while smaller partial volumes within the range should be cross-checked for particularly critical dilution series.
