Brand Transferpette S -8 Multichannel Pipette, 8-Channel, 5-50 µl, DE-M, 705906

For many protocols, there is a range between master mix addition and assay volume that is neither very small nor yet large. The Transferpette S -8 in the 5-50 µl range closes this gap column by column across eight channels.

Model M8-50 combines 8 individually manufactured and tested pistons in one housing and thus covers 5-50 µl at an increment of 0.05 µl. The matching tips in the 2-200 µl range can be removed without contact via the ejection mechanism. Because the piston guidance runs jointly across all 8 channels, the effort when pipetting hardly differs from a single-channel pipette.

Adjustment without tools

The adjustment slider sits under the label window and allows tool-free volume correction directly on the pipette body. In addition, a volume offset can be used to respond to deviating media or site conditions.

Reprocessing in the autoclave

The Transferpette S -8 is autoclavable as a complete device, 121 °C, 2 bar, holding time at least 15 minutes according to DIN EN 285, without any components having to be dismantled beforehand. On the electronic sister series, the Transferpette -8 electronic, only the unscrewable pipette shaft can be autoclaved, which is a significant difference between the mechanical and the electronic version.

Ergonomics in series operation

So that 8 pistons can be guided in parallel without excessive effort, the pipette body of the Transferpette S -8 is designed for continuous use on the plate. The finger stroke remains even across the entire 5-50 µl range, and the span of the hand is not overtaxed. The number of channels is clearly legible on the housing, and the grip section and tip cone are kept neutral in colour.

Place within the Transferpette S family

In the same model system, the Transferpette S -12 with 12 channels is also available alongside the 8-channel version, and for individual samples the single-channel series Transferpette S Fix and Variable. The adjustment method and autoclavability are built the same way across the entire series, so switching between channel counts requires no new training.

Selection guide

For smaller additions below 5 µl, the neighbouring variant with 0.5-10 µl (MPN 705900) is available, and for larger assay volumes the version with 10-100 µl (MPN 705908). Channel count, model and adjustment method stay identical when switching between volume steps of the same series, only the test range and the corresponding tip size change. If you are unsure which range suits your protocol, base the choice on the volume you pipette most often within the series and pick the range in which this volume lies as close as possible to the upper test point.

Accuracy across the test range

Testing is carried out at three test volumes (100 %, 50 % and 10 % of the nominal volume 5-50 µl). The systematic measurement error is given as 50 µl: ± 0.8 % / 25 µl: ± 1.4 % / 5 µl: ± 6 %, the random measurement error (coefficient of variation) as 50 µl: ± 0.4 % / 25 µl: ± 0.8 % / 5 µl: ± 3 %. As with any air displacement pipette, the relative deviation grows towards the lower test point and is tightest at the upper test point. In practical terms, dosing close to the upper end of the nominal volume is the most reproducible, while smaller partial volumes benefit from an additional check in critical dilution series.
