Product information "Bürkle MicroSampler sampler, V4A stainless steel, 0.2 to 1.0 ml, 550 mm penetration depth, 5307-1055"
Anyone who needs to extract just a few tenths of a millilitre of powder from a small container, for example, when sampling an active ingredient in limited quantities or an expensive fine chemical, requires a compact tool. The MicroSampler extracts between 0.2 and 1.0 millilitres of powder from bags, drums and small containers, and with an external diameter of 12 millimetres, it fits through openings that larger samplers cannot access.
Slim diameter for narrow openings
With an external diameter of 12 millimetres, the MicroSampler in this size is slimmer than most powder samplers in the range. This makes it the first choice for sample bottles with narrow necks, small canisters or test openings into which a 25-millimetre tube will not fit. If an application regularly requires larger sample volumes of between 2.0 and 10 millilitres, the MicroSampler variant of the same design with a 25-millimetre outer diameter is the more suitable choice.
Order the replaceable tip separately
The MicroSampler’s tip is replaceable and, according to Bürkle’s labelling, is ordered separately; it is not supplied as part of the basic unit. Anyone wishing to continue using the sampler for different materials or after the tip has worn out should factor this repeat order into their plans from the outset.
Materials for cleaning and food contact
The main tube is made of V4A stainless steel (1.4404), the spring for the opening mechanism of 1.4310 stainless steel (AISI 301), and the handle parts of polyamide. According to Bürkle’s labelling, the material is suitable for food; however, the manufacturer does not cite a specific standard such as Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 for this model. According to the manufacturer’s specifications, the sampler is autoclavable, meaning it can be fully thermally reprocessed between two sampling operations involving different materials.
Three penetration depths for different containers
The MicroSampler range for 0.2 to 1.0 millilitres is available in three penetration depths: 550, 850 and 1,170 millimetres. The short version is suitable for sacks and shallow containers, the medium version for standard drums, and the long version for deep silos or tall containers where a sample is only meaningful when taken at the bottom of the container. The depth required depends less on the sample volume than on the height of the container in question.
Use in incoming goods inspection
When a batch with a very limited delivery quantity arrives at goods-in, such as a new batch of active ingredient or an expensive reagent, often only a tiny fraction is available for the retention sample. In such cases, the MicroSampler precisely extracts the required minute quantity without causing any significant loss to the remainder of the batch. This is a practical advantage, particularly in facilities with limited reference samples or when testing small special batches.
Combining MicroSamplers of both sizes
Many organisations require both sizes in their day-to-day operations: the 12-millimetre version for very small quantities and the 25-millimetre version for 2.0 to 10 millilitres for routine retention samples. Having both sizes in your inventory covers the vast majority of powder samples typically encountered during incoming goods inspection, without having to choose between a sampler that is too small or too large for each batch.
Typical applications
- Sampling of very small quantities of powder, such as active ingredients or fine chemicals with limited material quantities
- Retention samples where very little sample material is available
- Quality control in pharmaceutical and fine chemicals production
- Sampling through narrow container openings such as bottle necks or small canisters

The tip is not included in the scope of delivery. It is ordered separately according to Bürkle’s labelling.
Service and procurement
The appropriate penetration depth for a particular container depends on its height and the desired sampling point. We order each of the three MicroSampler lengths individually and, if required, also clarify the replacement tip or a combination with the larger MicroSampler variant for 2.0 to 10 millilitres. For highly cohesive, poorly flowing powders, the Scratcher powder sampler is often the better choice. If you have any queries regarding the suitable size, please contact us for assistance.
