Elma Elmasonic P 60H Ultrasonic Bath with Heating, 5.75 Litre, 37/80 kHz, 1013761

Capillaries and very small, delicate parts are cleaned at 80 kHz, coarse contamination at 37 kHz, and for both a single unit is enough with the Elma Elmasonic P 60H. It switches between the two frequencies, has 5.75 litres tank volume and a heater with 500 W. Elma describes the P series as a helper in analytical and medical laboratories as well as in industry and for analytical applications with the highest requirements.

37 kHz and 80 kHz compared

At 37 kHz the unit has 180 W effective ultrasonic power and 720 W peak, and at 80 kHz it is 150 W and 600 W. The lower frequency removes coarse contamination and serves for mixing, dissolving, dispersing and degassing. At 80 kHz, capillaries and very small, delicate parts are cleaned, and operation is quieter. Switching takes place manually or automatically.

Pulse, Sweep, Degas and power control

Pulse intensifies the sonication by up to 20 %, and Sweep is the function for even distribution of the sound energy. Degas and Auto-Degas degas samples, HPLC solvents and freshly prepared cleaning liquid. The power can be controlled between 30 and 100 % in 10 % steps, and a pause function halts the sonication. With the temperature-controlled auto start, sonication begins only when the bath has reached the set temperature.

Two rotary switches and an alphanumeric display

Sonication duration and temperature are selected with two rotary switches, and the keypad and the alphanumeric display show setpoint and actual values. The unit stores the last setting. In short-time operation the times go from 1 to 10 minutes in 1-minute steps, then in steps from 15 to 60 minutes, plus a continuous setting with automatic shutdown after 12 hours. The temperature is between 30 and 80 °C in 5 °C steps, and at a bath temperature of 90 °C the safety shutdown acts.

Tank, drain and accessories

The tank measures 300 x 151 x 150 mm internally and holds 5.75 litres at most, with 4.3 litres of working volume recommended. The modular cleaning basket 60 (Art. 1113050) has internal dimensions of 255 x 115 x 75 mm and carries up to 5.0 kg. At the back there is a ball valve with 3/8 inch drain connection, and hose nozzle and hose clamp are included. Elma does not supply a lid. Available are the stainless steel lid 60 (Art. 1111931), plastic lid 60 (Art. 1003282 ultramarine blue, 1101129 cobalt blue, 1071696 silver grey), the insert lid 3 for two cleaning glasses or beakers (Art. 1110261), a stainless steel drain strainer (Art. 1045648) and a cooling coil (Art. 1037515).

Sound level and power consumption

Measured with basket and lid, the sound pressure level at a distance of 1 m is below 70 dB(A) and the ultrasonic level below 105 dB. The unit draws 680 W at 37 kHz and 650 W at 80 kHz. Elma classifies it as a Class A device for the commercial environment (RFI declaration).

Smaller or larger in the P series

The P 30H has 2.75 litres, internal tank dimensions of 240 x 137 x 100 mm and 120 W ultrasonic power at 37 kHz. The P 300H holds 27.5 litres at internal dimensions of 505 x 300 x 200 mm and 380 W. The 60H sits in between.
