No rechargeable battery and no charging time: the Eppendorf Multipette M4 is a mechanical hand dispenser for Combitips advanced. The volume is set and dispensed by hand; a button cell only powers the digital display. Depending on the tip, the M4 dispenses from 1 µL to 10 mL. This version is supplied with a Combitip advanced 2.5 mL and the Pipette Holder 2.
Display, step counter and sleep function
The display shows volume and steps, whilst a step counter keeps track of the number of dispensing operations. There are 20 volume settings available per tip, and up to 100 dispensing steps are possible per filling. A sleep function and motion sensor switch off the display when not in use. The CR2032 (3 V) button cell is pre-installed and, according to Eppendorf, lasts for approximately 2 years.
The included Combitip
The dispenser automatically recognises the attached Combitip advanced. The supplied Combitip 2.5 mL (green) dispenses 25 to 500 µL. For other ranges there are 8 further sizes up to 50 mL; the ViscoTip for viscous liquids can also be used. If you want to try several sizes, the Starter Kit version (No. 4982000314) contains all nine sizes as an assortment pack.

Measurement deviations
For each of the 9 Combitip sizes, Eppendorf specifies 4 test volumes. According to Eppendorf, the values apply only with original Combitips advanced. Eppendorf determines them gravimetrically according to ISO 8655, with 10 determinations per volume and water according to ISO 3696. The table shows the smallest and the largest test volume for each Combitip. The systematic error describes how far the mean value deviates from the set volume, the random error the scatter of the individual values.
