Eppendorf Research plus multichannel pipette, 12-channel, 10–100 µL, yellow, 3125000044

Product information "Eppendorf Research plus multichannel pipette, 12-channel, 10–100 µL, yellow, 3125000044"

The Eppendorf Research plus multichannel pipette, 12-channel, 10–100 µL, yellow, is the standard mechanical model for high-throughput work on microtitre plates. With 12 channels, it is designed for row-by-row processing: a complete row of a 96-well plate is filled in a single stroke, which further increases throughput compared with the 8-channel model when using standard protocols in the 96-well format. The 10–100 µL volume range covers classic ELISA and immunoassay reagents, such as the addition of substrates or conjugates in the 96-well format, where larger individual volumes are required than in PCR preparation. As a mechanical ‘Research-plus’ version, it features a spring-loaded tip cone that seals reliably even with wells of slightly varying depths, and can be autoclaved as a complete unit at 121 °C and 1 bar overpressure, without the need for a battery or software. The epT.I.P.S. 2–200 µL yellow, 53 mm tip is designed to be used with this model; the order number for this version is 3125000044. The yellow colour code on the 12 tip cones corresponds to the volume colour coding used by Eppendorf for this range and makes it easier to identify the correct epT.I.P.S. tips in the tip rack.

Typical applications

The Research plus multichannel pipette, 12-channel, 10–100 µL, is primarily used in day-to-day laboratory work for the following steps, where the same volume needs to be dispensed repeatedly into multiple wells:

  • Addition of ELISA substrate and conjugate in 96-well format
  • Filling entire 96-well plates row by row
  • Addition of reagents in routine diagnostics
  • Aliquoting samples for quality control
  • Workstations where the yellow colour-coding of the 12-channel tips is used for quick identification in the tip rack

Selection guide

Those who regularly process 384-well plates will find a 16- or 24-channel model from the same series to be faster. For column-by-column work or transferring from PCR strips, LT Laborhandel also offers the 8-channel variant with the same volume range of 10–100 µL. Those looking for the same number of channels and the same volume range with single-button operation instead of a mechanical piston stroke will find the Reference 2 to be a suitable alternative in the range. If you have any queries regarding the appropriate number of channels or the suitable volume range for your own workflow, LT Laborhandel’s procurement service will be happy to assist. If you are looking for an electronically controlled multichannel pipette with a display and battery operation instead of the mechanical version, you will find the right alternative in the Eppendorf Xplorer or Xplorer plus from the same product family at LT Laborhandel. The 12-channel version with a 10–100 µL volume range can be swapped at any time for a model with a different number of channels or a different volume range within the same series, without altering the rest of the laboratory workflow.

Accuracy in accordance with DIN EN ISO 8655

The error limits have been tested in accordance with DIN EN ISO 8655, with ten individual determinations per test volume using distilled water in accordance with ISO 3696. The specific values for 10–100 µL are shown in the table below, broken down into systematic and random deviations for each test point between 10 and 100 µL.

Recommended pipetting technique and environmental conditions

To ensure reproducible results, the same basic rule applies as for testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 8655: tips should be immersed by only a few millimetres; dispensing should take place against the wall of the vessel rather than freely in the air; and the piston stroke should be performed smoothly. According to the operating instructions, the device should be operated at 5 to 40 °C and 10 to 95 % relative humidity, and stored (without transport packaging) at temperatures between –5 and 45 °C. With 12 channels operating simultaneously, poor technique on a single channel has a greater impact on the overall result of the series than with a single-channel pipette – an additional reason to carry out a quick check before the first series of the day.
