Product information "IKA A 10.3 carbide beater for the A 10 basic analytical mill, Mohs hardness 9, 0025001161"
For the most demanding applications: IKA A 10.3 carbide beater
The IKA A 10.3 carbide beater (MPN 0025001161) is the most robust grinding tool for the IKA A 10 basic analytical mill. Whilst conventional stainless steel beaters quickly become blunt or wear out when processing particularly tough samples, this tool, made from high-performance carbide, really comes into its own.
Effortless grinding up to Mohs hardness 9
Like the standard beater (A 10.1), the A 10.3 also operates on the impact principle. However, thanks to the tungsten carbide used, it is approved for samples with a Mohs hardness of up to 9.
- Ideal samples: It effortlessly shatters extremely hard materials such as glass, ceramics, ores, slag, hard minerals, quartz or extremely hard plastics.
- Low wear: The tool’s extreme hardness not only guarantees a long service life but also minimises wear on the hammer itself. This is essential for trace analysis, as it drastically reduces contamination of the sample by the hammer material (compared to stainless steel).
Genuine IKA quality
As an original IKA accessory, this beater guarantees maximum safety even at the extremely high speeds of the A 10 basic mill. The tool can be replaced by the user in just a few simple steps using the tool supplied with the mill.

Customised requirements & accessories
With the three tools A 10.1 (stainless steel beater, standard), A 10.2 (star blade, fibrous samples) and this A 10.3 (carbide beater, extreme hardness), you can handle almost every conceivable type of sample in the laboratory. If you wish to reduce the volume of the grinding chamber for particularly small sample quantities, we recommend the additional grinding chamber reducer (A 10.4).
