The IKA C-MAG HS 4 (MPN 0003581000) proves that professional laboratory equipment does not have to take up much space. As the most compact model in the C-MAG series, this magnetic stirrer with heating offers all the advantages of its larger counterparts, condensed into a space-saving footprint of just 100 x 100 mm. It is the perfect solution for laboratories where every centimetre in the fume cupboard counts, or for applications where smaller vessels (e.g. beakers up to 1000 ml or small flasks) need to be heated and stirred.

Indestructible glass-ceramic for aggressive media

The unique selling point of the C-MAG range is the square heating plate made of solid glass-ceramic. This material offers outstanding chemical resistance. Whether concentrated acids, alkalis or solvents – the non-porous surface withstands almost any attack. Should anything go wrong in the heat of the moment, the plate can be cleaned effortlessly thanks to its smooth surface. Furthermore, the white ceramic ensures excellent visibility of colour changes during titrations or reactions.

Powerful heating capacity up to 500 °C

Despite its small size, the C-MAG HS 4 is a real powerhouse. The 250-watt heating power ensures rapid heating times across the compact surface. You can cover temperature ranges from 50 °C up to an impressive 500 °C. This makes the unit suitable not only for gentle temperature control, but also for demanding tasks such as boiling media or small-scale cracking processes. The powerful motor reliably stirs volumes of up to 5 litres (H₂O) and covers a speed range from 100 to 1,500 rpm.

Safety and ease of use

Safety is a top priority at IKA. The C-MAG HS 4 features a raised control panel. This design feature prevents any leaking liquids from entering the housing or damaging the electronics. An essential safety feature is the “Hot Top” indicator: a warning light clearly signals when the surface temperature exceeds 50 °C – even if the unit has already been switched off! This effectively protects the user from burns after finishing work. A fixed safety circuit automatically switches off the heating at 550 °C to prevent overheating.

Robustness for continuous operation

Operation is classic and intuitive via two analogue rotary controls for heating temperature and speed. This simplicity makes the unit particularly robust and durable, as it does not rely on vulnerable displays or complex menu navigation. The C-MAG HS 4 is built to protection class IP 21 and designed for long-term use in everyday laboratory work.

Important difference compared to larger models

Please note: Unlike the larger models (HS 7 / HS 10), the compact C-MAG HS 4 does not have a socket for connecting an external contact thermometer. Temperature control is carried out exclusively via the heating plate (scale 0–6). For applications requiring precise medium temperature control, we recommend the C-MAG HS 7. However, for all standard tasks where robustness and space-saving are the main priorities, the HS 4 is the more economical and compact choice.
