IKA CBC 5 control Refrigerated and Heating Circulator, -25 to 200 °C, 4167000

Product information "IKA CBC 5 control Refrigerated and Heating Circulator, -25 to 200 °C, 4167000"

When a temperature control process is not only to run reliably but also to be monitored, documented and, if necessary, operated from a safe distance, a simple display is often not enough. The IKA CBC 5 control (4167000) is a refrigerated and heating circulator for the working temperature range of -25 °C to 200 °C, with 2,500 watts of heating power and a detachable WiCo wireless remote control that allows the device to be operated safely even outside a closed fume hood. A colour TFT display and a multi-interface for external solenoid valves make the CBC 5 control the variant for process-oriented monitoring and automation within the CBC 5 series.

Wide temperature span with very fine control accuracy

The working temperature range of -25 °C to 200 °C is achieved by a heating power of 2,500 watts and a graded cooling capacity of 350 watts at 20 °C to 80 watts at -20 °C. At increased compressor speed (3,200 rpm), the cooling capacity rises to 130 watts at -20 °C and to 400 watts at 20 °C. The temperature stability to DIN 12876 is ±0.01 kelvin at 70 °C, and the display resolution is likewise 0.01 kelvin, noticeably finer than with the simpler CBC 5 basic. Control is via a PT100 working probe with a PT1000 safety probe, and an external PT100 temperature probe can also be connected.

TFT display and WiCo wireless remote control

Instead of a simple LED display, the CBC 5 control uses a colour TFT display that shows temperature and pump speed clearly and at the same time. The detachable WiCo wireless remote control makes it possible to operate the device from a safe distance, for example when the circulator itself stands outside a closed fume hood but the actual temperature control process has to be monitored in the fume hood. Visual and audible alarm messages for over-temperature or under-temperature as well as an adjustable safety circuit from 0 to 260 °C complete the safety concept.

Multi-interface for automation

Via the multi-interface, external solenoid valves can be controlled with an output of 24 volts DC and a maximum of 0.8 amperes. A potential-free alarm output (maximum 30 volts AC/DC, 1 ampere) and a standby input with 5 volts DC are also available. In combination with the USB and RS 232 interfaces, the CBC 5 control can be fully integrated into a higher-level process control system via labworldsoft or NAMUR commands, read out, monitored and documented without gaps.

Powerful pump for external circuits

The pressure/suction pump reaches a maximum delivery pressure of 0.61 bar, a suction pressure of 0.45 bar and a flow rate of up to 31 litres per minute via the M16x1 connection, adequately dimensioned for larger external consumers such as jacketed reactors. The fill volume of the bath is 5 to 7 litres. With external dimensions of 275 x 690 x 490 millimetres and a weight of 46.5 kilograms, the CBC 5 control is designed for stationary use at a fixed laboratory workstation.

Robust housing for continuous operation

The high-quality insulation of the bath ensures short heating times and at the same time reduces heat input during cooling in the lower temperature range, an advantage over less well insulated circulators when working at low temperatures over longer periods. The IP 21 protection class and the permissible ambient temperature range of 5 to 32 °C at a relative humidity of up to 80 % allow operation under the usual conditions of a chemistry or process engineering laboratory. Via USB and RS 232, the CBC 5 control can additionally be connected to a PC for online software updates, without a service technician having to travel to site.

Typical applications

The combination of wide temperature span, fine control accuracy and remote operation makes the CBC 5 control particularly interesting for process-oriented and automated applications:

  • Temperature control of jacketed reactors and process plants with requirements for gap-free documentation via labworldsoft or NAMUR commands
  • Safe remote operation of temperature control processes inside a fume hood via the detachable WiCo wireless remote control
  • Automated processes with connected solenoid valves via the multi-interface, for example for cooling water control
  • Applications with high demands on temperature stability thanks to the control accuracy of ±0.01 kelvin
  • External temperature control of large-volume consumers thanks to a pump flow rate of up to 31 litres per minute

IKA MV 1 solenoid valve for cooling water control, 0020003763
IKA MV 1 solenoid valve for cooling water control, 0020003763
Manufacturer number: 0020003763

The MV 1 is a solenoid valve for cooling water control, rated for a maximum of 100 °C and 10 bar. It is connected via M16x1 hose fittings on both sides; the valve is therefore situated in the cooling water circuit between the cooling water source and the system to be cooled. According to IKA’s compatibility list, the valve is fitted as standard on several recirculating thermostats and recirculating coolers and is also used on the LR 1000 control system, where it controls the cooling water supply to the reactor vessel and switches the cooling water flow according to the requirements of the reaction control. Weighing 0.6174 kg, it is significantly heavier than the other cover and shaft accessories in the LR 1000 system, which is consistent with its design featuring the two hose connections and the built-in coil. The two hose fittings included in the Scope of delivery are suitable for DN 8 hoses, a standard size for cooling water lines in laboratory settings.CompatibilityAccording to IKA’s compatibility tab, the MV 1 is compatible with the following devices:LR 1000 control system, ID no. 0025001991IC control, ID No. 0003863000IC control pro 12 c, ID No. 0008040000IC control pro 20 c, ID No. 0008037200HBC 5 control, ID No. 0004127000HBC 10 control, ID No. 0004137000HRC 2 GREEN control, ID No. 0020128746CBC 5 control, ID No. 0004167000RC 5 control, ID No. 0004183000The LR 1000 control system is therefore just one of nine listed devices; the majority of the compatibility list consists of circulation thermostats and circulation coolers that use the MV 1 to regulate their cooling water circuits. Our current range also includes the related models HRC 2 Lite and RC 2 Green control from the same IKA series; the procurement service carries out a compatibility check for these before an order is placed. With so many different target devices, it is generally advisable to briefly check the identification number on your own type plate before ordering the valve.Technical detailsMax. temperature100 °CMax. pressure10 barConnectionM16x1 hose nipplesWeight0.6174 kgScope of delivery1 x MV 1 solenoid valve2 x DN 8 hose fittingsUnion nutsThe coolant hose and coolant connection are not included.Individual requirements and procurement serviceThe Holder MV 1 bracket is required for mounting on the LR 1000 control stand tube; this holds the valve securely in place rather than allowing it to hang freely in the hose system. Our procurement service will determine which circulation thermostat or circulation cooler is compatible with your MV 1, and will assist in putting together the entire cooling water circuit for your laboratory, from selecting the appropriate thermostat to the tubing. Checking the identification number of your own unit before ordering provides additional certainty, particularly given the large number of possible target devices, ranging from reactors to recirculating chillers.
