The IKA HBR 4 control is a high-precision heating bath system optimised for temperature control of liquids up to 200 °C. The cylindrical bath geometry, combined with the high-quality stainless steel inner vessel (1.4301), ensures homogeneous temperature distribution within the heat transfer medium (water or low-viscosity oils). The specific arrangement of the heating elements induces efficient convection, which minimises thermal gradients and thus creates isothermal conditions for the sample vessel. The system is designed for a maximum heating power of 1000 W to achieve fast heating times even with larger volumes.
Metrological control and cybernetic safety
The heating process is controlled by a microprocessor-controlled PID controller, which ensures excellent stability of the bath temperature. An integrated connection for an external temperature sensor (PT 1000) enables precise measurement of the medium temperature, allowing the control system to respond directly to the kinetic energy of the sample. A key feature of the ‘control’ version is the digital interface (USB/RS232), which allows for comprehensive documentation of thermal processes via Labworldsoft ®. The safety architecture includes an independently adjustable safety temperature limiter, which reliably prevents thermal decomposition of the medium or overheating of the apparatus in the event of system faults.
