Not every temperature control task needs the smallest or the largest available bath, and a medium volume is often the more practical compromise between footprint and capacity. The IKA Compact Immersion Circulator ICC 150 lite pro 12 (0010013210) combines the ICC 150 lite immersion circulator with a 12 litre stainless steel bath and covers a working temperature range from room temperature to 150 °C. Unlike the pro 12 c variant, the standard package does not include an additional cover, but the bath stays freely accessible at all times, which is practical when samples frequently have to be inserted or removed in everyday laboratory work without having to open a cover each time.

Open 12 litre bath for flexible access

The supplied IB 12 pro stainless steel bath offers a bath opening of 292 x 147 millimetres at a bath depth of at least 150 millimetres. Since the standard package is supplied without a cover, vessels can be inserted and removed at any time without going through a flap or lid, an advantage in workflows with frequent manual sample changes. The external dimensions of the entire system of circulator head, bath and bath bridge are 354 x 461 x 388 millimetres.

Performance data of the ICC 150 lite circulator head

The circulator head delivers a heating power of 2,000 watts at a working temperature range from room temperature to 150 °C, and with external cooling operating temperatures down to -25 °C can be reached. The temperature stability to DIN 12876 is ±0.05 kelvin, and a PID controller with PT1000 working and safety probes handles the control. The integrated pressure/suction pump reaches a maximum delivery pressure of 0.3 bar, a suction pressure of 0.1 bar and a flow rate of up to 15 litres per minute. The device is therefore suitable both for internal circulation in its own bath and for connecting external consumers, provided a suitable hose or pump connection set is also available.

Operation, display and safety concept

Operation is via a membrane keypad, and the display is an LED display. The adjustable safety circuit ranges from 0 to 160 °C, and visual and audible warning functions as well as low-level protection reliably protect the device and the heat transfer medium from damage. The system is classified to DIN 12876 in safety class III (FL) and is therefore also approved for use with flammable heat transfer fluids in a closed circuit.

Compact circulator head with clamp mounting

The circulator head itself weighs 4.7 kilograms at dimensions of 135 x 303 x 180 millimetres and is mounted directly on the bath via a clamp mounting. The IP 21 protection class and a permissible ambient temperature range of 5 to 40 °C at up to 80 % relative humidity cover the usual laboratory conditions. The device can be connected to a PC via USB and RS 232 and integrated into existing laboratory software.

Retrofittable instead of fixed

If you find during operation that a cover would be useful after all, for example because the temperature control more often runs in the upper range of the 150 °C scale, the ICC 150 lite pro 12 does not tie you to the factory equipment: covers and pump connection sets for the same size can be retrofitted separately if required. This flexibility distinguishes the ICC 150 lite pro 12 from the pro 12 c variant, in which the cover and pump connection set are included in the scope of delivery from the start, but are also priced in accordingly. For laboratories that want to test their exact requirements only in ongoing operation, the open standard package is therefore often the more pragmatic and more economical entry into the series.

• General temperature control tasks with medium sample volume, for which neither a very small nor a very large bath would be ideal
• Applications with frequent manual sample changes, in which an open, uncovered bath makes access easier
• External temperature control of connected consumers via the integrated pump connection
• Practical courses and routine applications in which a robust, uncomplicated immersion circulator without additional equipment is sufficient
• Processes with flammable heat transfer fluids in closed circuits thanks to classification in safety class III (FL) to DIN 12876
