IKA ICC basic eco 8 Immersion Circulator Package, Plastic Bath Size S, up to 100 °C, 8034900

For smaller water bath applications where neither a stainless steel bath nor a high upper temperature limit is necessary, IKA offers the most compact and lightest variant of the entire ICC package family with the ICC basic eco 8 package (MPN 8034900). The ICC basic thermostat is combined here with the IB 8 eco plastic bath of size S, which is designed for pure water up to 100 degrees Celsius. With a total weight of only 10.5 kilograms, the package is easy to transport and can also be set up at cramped workstations. For applications that require a higher upper temperature limit or a more robust bath material, a stainless steel bath of the pro series is optionally available within the same ICC basic series.

Heating power 2000 watts, bath temperature up to 100 degrees Celsius

The thermostat delivers 2000 watts of heating power and controls the temperature via PID with a stability of ±0.02 kelvin according to DIN 12876. Since the plastic bath is approved exclusively for water and a maximum bath temperature of 100 degrees Celsius, the package is especially suitable for aqueous applications. The set temperature can be set with an accuracy of ±0.1 kelvin, and the LED display shows actual and set values with a resolution of 0.1 kelvin.

Compact plastic bath size S

The IB 8 eco plastic bath has a bath opening of 188 x 105 millimetres at the bottom and a maximum of 227 x 118 millimetres at the upper bath edge, with an immersion depth of 85 to 125 millimetres. It is therefore the smallest bath in the entire ICC package series and is mainly suitable for individual, compact vessels or for workstations where only little space is available.

Pump and flow rate despite compact design

Like the larger package variants, the eco 8 package also has a pressure/suction pump with a flow rate of up to 18 litres per minute at 0 bar back pressure. This means temperature-controlled water can, if required, also be passed on from this compact bath to external consumers, as long as the upper temperature limit of 100 degrees Celsius is sufficient for the respective application.

Safety according to DIN 12876

The system is classified as DIN 12876 Class III and marked FL. An adjustable safety circuit from 0 to 160 degrees Celsius, visual and audible warning functions and low and high level protection ensure safe operation, even though the eco version is primarily intended for aqueous media because of the temperature limit. The clamp mounting allows tool-free installation on the bath. The classification according to DIN 12876 applies to the thermostat itself, regardless of whether flammable media are actually used in the specific application or, as is usual with the eco bath, only water.

Interfaces and limits of the plastic bath

Even the most compact package of the ICC family has the interfaces RS 232 and USB for connection to a PC. What remains important for selection is the restriction of the IB 8 eco bath to pure water and an upper temperature limit of 100 degrees Celsius, which clearly sets the package apart from the stainless steel baths of the pro series, which can be operated up to 150 degrees Celsius and with other bath media. For smaller, purely water-based applications, the eco 8 is the lightest and most affordable package in the entire ICC series.

Cleaning the compact plastic bath

The small IB 8 eco bath can also be maintained with mild laboratory cleaners compatible with plastics. Since no cover is included in the scope of delivery, the bath should be covered during longer idle periods to avoid evaporation and dust ingress, and a suitable cover accessory can be procured separately if required. For regular operation with water, the plastic bath remains uncomplicated in daily handling and easy to clean.

As the most compact and lightest package of the family, the ICC basic eco 8 is suitable for smaller water bath applications up to 100 degrees Celsius:
