Not every laboratory needs the largest bath available, and a medium format is often the better compromise between footprint and bath volume. The IKA ICC basic pro 12 c package (MPN 10000416) combines the proven ICC basic thermostat with a size M stainless steel bath and also supplies bath bridge, cover, pump connection set and cooling coil. With 2000 watts of heating power and a working temperature range from room temperature to 150 degrees Celsius, the system covers most temperature control tasks that arise in the routine laboratory with an external bath circuit.

Heating power and control accuracy in detail

The 2000 watts of heating power warm the bath quickly to the set temperature, and the PID control then holds the temperature with a stability of ±0.02 kelvin according to DIN 12876. The current temperature can be read off the LED display with a resolution of 0.1 kelvin, and the set temperature itself can be set with an accuracy of ±0.1 kelvin. A PT 100 sensor measures the working temperature in the bath, and an independent PT1000 sensor handles safety monitoring.

Stainless steel bath size M as a balanced format

The IB 12 pro stainless steel bath offers a bath opening of 255 x 127 millimetres at the bottom and a maximum of 292 x 147 millimetres at the upper bath edge, with an immersion depth of 85 to 125 millimetres. Compared with the L bath it takes up significantly less space, but remains large enough for several vessels or a permanently connected external consumer. Like all baths of the pro series, it is made of stainless steel and designed for temperatures up to 150 degrees Celsius.

Pump, cooling coil and cover for circuit operation

The integrated pressure/suction pump delivers up to 18 litres per minute at 0 bar back pressure and can be connected to external consumers via the supplied pump connection set PCS.ICC. The cooling coil CC2 allows external cooling of the bath if required, so that temperatures below room temperature down to minus 20 degrees Celsius can also be reached. The enclosed cover CM.ICC reduces evaporation of the bath medium and at the same time protects against splashes and foreign bodies.

Safety equipment according to DIN 12876

Classified according to DIN 12876 Class III with marking FL, the system is approved for use with flammable liquids. An adjustable safety circuit from 0 to 160 degrees Celsius, a visual and audible warning function and low and high level protection ensure safe operation. The thermostat is attached to the bath by a clamp and can therefore be mounted and removed again without tools, for example for maintenance or cleaning.

Interfaces and continuous operation

The interfaces RS 232 and USB are available for connection to a PC, via which temperature curves can be logged or several devices monitored together. The permissible duty cycle of 100 per cent makes the ICC basic pro 12 c suitable for continuous operation, for example when a test series is to run for several days at constant temperature. A calibration option additionally allows the temperature display to be compared against a reference thermometer, which ensures traceable measured values, particularly in quality assurance.

Cleaning and care of the stainless steel bath

Like all baths of the pro series, the IB 12 pro is made of stainless steel and can be maintained with common laboratory cleaners without reacting sensitively to mechanical stress. The supplied cover CM.ICC additionally protects the bath from dust and contamination when it is temporarily not in use, and at the same time reduces evaporation during operation. Since the thermostat can be removed tool-free via the clamp, the bath itself also remains easily accessible at any time for thorough cleaning.
