Optimised heat transfer for plates

With microtitre plates, maintaining uniform temperature is often a challenge, as the samples do not come into direct contact with a heating block (unlike tubes, which are inserted into wells). The IKA MATRIX Orbital Delta FP solves this with a large-area, flat heating plate that is in direct contact with the base of the microtitre plate.

• Precision: The solid block (Delta FP) ensures excellent temperature uniformity across the entire plate. Whether in the centre or at the edge – every well is maintained at exactly the same temperature.
• Performance: With a heating rate of up to 15 °C/min (depending on the mass), the device rapidly reaches target temperatures of up to 100 °C. This is ideal for incubations, enzymatic assays (ELISA) or lysis steps carried out directly in the plate.

Powerful mixing in orbital mode

Effective mixing is particularly difficult in the small wells of a 96-well plate, as capillary forces are high. The MATRIX Orbital Delta FP utilises an orbital shaking motion with a 3 mm stroke. What does this mean for your application?

• Resuspension: Even firmly settled pellets are reliably resuspended at speeds of up to 2,000 rpm (often limited by spillage in plates, but technically possible here).
• Homogenisation: Buffers and reagents mix in a matter of seconds, which accelerates reaction kinetics and delivers reproducible results.

Safety and convenience thanks to the ‘fixed’ design

Why a fixed attachment? Interchangeable systems are flexible, but often compromise on stability. The IKA MATRIX Orbital Delta FP’s permanently mounted plate holder offers maximum mechanical robustness. A sophisticated spring mechanism secures the plate firmly to the heating element. Even at high speeds, the plate remains ‘rock-solid’, which reduces noise and prevents wear. Furthermore, the fixed connection guarantees the best possible heat transfer, as there are no air gaps between the heating element and the adapter plate.

Intelligent control for automated processes

The device is not just a ‘heater and shaker’, but a programmable process assistant. Using the intuitive menu and the large TFT display, you can define so-called ramps. A typical scenario: “Heat to 37 °C, shake gently for 30 minutes (incubation), then heat to 95 °C for 5 minutes (reaction termination), cool down (passively).” The device carries out this sequence automatically whilst you attend to other tasks. Frequently used programmes can be saved to quick-access buttons.

Includes a premium pipette

Inside the box of this set, you will find the IKA PETTE vario 100–1000 µl. This pipette is ideal for dispensing reagents into plates or adding buffers. It is fully autoclavable, extremely smooth-running (DLC-coated piston) and comes with three interchangeable handles to ensure a perfect ergonomic fit in your hand.

Robustness for continuous operation

The die-cast aluminium housing makes the MATRIX Orbital Delta FP extremely stable and durable. Spilled liquids can be easily wiped away from the smooth surface, and the IP 21 protection rating ensures safety in everyday laboratory use.
