The IKA RH basic ETS-D5 Solution Complete Package (MPN 0020106987) is a robust and thermally precise solution for the simultaneous stirring and temperature control to the nearest degree of liquid media in the laboratory. This turnkey package combines the RH basic heating magnetic stirrer with the ETS-D5 electronic contact thermometer and the appropriate mounting accessories. Whether for routine processes in chemical analysis, sample preparation in testing laboratories or reproducible mixing operations in industrial quality control, this complete set enables reliable, process-safe operation in continuous use.

Heat-conductive aluminium base

The structural foundation of the stirring drive is a circular base with a diameter of 135 millimetres, made from an aluminium alloy with enhanced surface strength to ensure a long service life. One litre of water achieves a heating rate of around 5.5 Kelvin per minute, whilst the surface’s self-heating caused by stirring at maximum speed is limited to around 6 Kelvin (based on a room temperature of 22 °C over one hour). This further limits the thermal stress on temperature-sensitive samples, in addition to external control via the ETS-D5, and the surface can be cleaned quickly and without leaving any residue in everyday laboratory use.

Media temperature control accurate to the degree via the ETS-D5 contact thermometer

The highlight of this solution package is the direct thermodynamic control within the medium via the ETS-D5 electronic contact thermometer, which is included in the scope of delivery. The accompanying PT1000 probe is positioned stably directly within the liquid core of the sample using the stand components and measures with a resolution of 0.1 Kelvin and an accuracy of ±0.2 Kelvin plus probe tolerance (Class A). Using optimised PID control, the RH basic continuously adjusts its heating power to the measured actual values, preventing the temperature from overshooting the target temperature. In addition to the safety functions of the ETS-D5 itself (sensor timeout, temperature drop detection and setpoint monitoring), the heating plate has its own adjustable temperature safety circuit ranging from 50 to 360 °C in accordance with EN IEC 61010-2-010, which switches off the 600-watt heater in the event of a fault, independently of the contact thermometer.

Compact housing for flexible laboratory use

The RH basic’s brushless EC motor covers a speed range of 100 to 1,500 revolutions per minute. Two rotary/push buttons on the front panel allow independent setpoint adjustment as well as the separate start and stop of the heating and stirring functions. With dimensions of 168 x 217 x 100 millimetres and an IP 22-rated housing, the complete unit can be accommodated even in confined workspaces or within a fume hood. As the stirrer, contact thermometer and stand components are already designed to work together, there is no need to procure individual components separately or check their compatibility.
