Product information "Kern 440-51N precision balance 4,000 g / 1 g"
The Kern 440 is a compact precision balance with strain gauges for laboratory use. Nine models weigh from 60 g to 6,000 g and have a readability of 0.001 g, 0.01 g, 0.1 g or 1 g. The plastic housing measures 165 x 230 x 80 mm, so the balance takes up little space on the workbench.
Nine models, four readability levels
The 440-21A covers the finest range: 60 g at 0.001 g, with a ring-shaped draught shield (weighing chamber Ø 90 mm, 40 mm high) and a plastic weighing plate (Ø 81 mm) with static-dissipative paint finish. The 440-33N (up to 200 g) and the 440-35A (up to 600 g) read to 0.01 g, both with a stainless steel plate (Ø 105 mm). The 440-43N (400 g), 440-45N (1,000 g), 440-47N (2,000 g) and 440-49A (6,000 g) read to 0.1 g. The 440-51N (4,000 g) and the 440-53N (6,000 g) have a readability of 1 g and, at 2 s, take slightly less time to stabilise than the other models (3 s).
Functions and operation
The balance determines percentages, counts pieces and adds up weighings via the Net-Total function of the formulation and totalling level. The minimum unit weight for counting is given for each model in the table. The units are switchable; depending on the model, these include g, ct, lb, oz, dwt and ozt (the full list is provided in the Kern data sheet). The backlit LCD has digits 15 mm high. According to the data sheet, adjustment is carried out using an external weight.
Mains power, rechargeable battery and battery
The plug-in mains adaptor (100 V to 240 V, 50 Hz or 60 Hz) is included in the scope of delivery. In addition, the balance can be operated with a 9 V block battery, which is not supplied. As an option, Kern lists the rechargeable battery FCB-A01 (NiMH) with 10 h charging time and 20 h operating time without backlight. The automatic switch-off after 3 min in rechargeable battery and battery operation can be switched off. Data is transmitted to a printer or PC via the standard RS-232 interface. The permissible range is 5 °C to 35 °C and up to 80 % humidity.
Typical applications
- Laboratories with limited space: 165 x 230 mm footprint, mains, battery or rechargeable battery operation
- Sample preparation in the milligram range: 440-21A with draught shield
- Preparing solutions and weighing to 0.01 g: 440-33N and 440-35A
- Goods receipt and checkweighing up to 6 kg: 440-49A and 440-53N
