Kern ACJ 80-4M analytical balance 82 g / 0.0001 g

The Kern ACJ is an analytical balance with a single-cell weighing system, a glass draught shield and an internal automatic adjustment. Four models weigh from 82 g to 320 g and read to 0.0001 g (0.1 mg). The verification value is e = 0.001 g for all models, the accuracy class is I. Anyone who uses the balance in applications subject to mandatory verification should order the optional conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU) ex works along with it.

The same accuracy in four weighing ranges

Readability, reproducibility (0.0002 g), linearity (± 0.0003 g), minimum load (0.01 g) and stabilisation time (3 s) are the same for all four models. The choice therefore depends on the maximum weight to be weighed: the ACJ 80-4M weighs up to 82 g, the ACJ 100-4M up to 120 g, the ACJ 200-4M up to 220 g and the ACJ 300-4M up to 320 g. The three larger models also display carats (ct), whilst the ACJ 80-4M displays only g and mg.

Adjustment and documentation

The internal automatic adjustment adjusts the balance when the temperature changes by 2 °C or more and additionally every 4 h. This does not replace a calibration certificate, which is available separately (see below). The four-digit balance identification number is freely programmable and is printed on the adjustment report. A high-stability mode and other filter settings are available as a dosing aid. When formulating, the balance numbers the mixture components and prints them with number and weight value; tare and print are combined on one key for this. After each standstill of the balance, the data go automatically to a PC or printer via RS-232 or USB device.

Functions and design

The ACJ counts pieces (minimum unit weight 1 mg under laboratory conditions, 10 mg under standard conditions), determines percentages and density, adds up formulation components with Net-Total and measures with tolerance range. The LCD display has digits 14 mm high. The stainless steel weighing pan has a diameter of 91 mm. The weighing chamber behind the glass draught shield measures 174 x 162 x 227 mm. The spirit level and adjustable feet are used for levelling. The housing is made of die-cast aluminium and plastic.

Conformity assessment and calibration

A conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU) is optional (item no. 965-201). It can only be ordered ex works together with the balance; according to Kern, a subsequent conformity assessment is not possible. To place an order, Kern needs the full address of the installation site. A DAkkS calibration certificate (item no. 963-101) can be ordered separately. The confirmation of manufacturer specification (969-517) is only available in conjunction with the DAkkS calibration certificate.

Warranty

According to Kern & Sohn, these devices come with a 3-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.
