Kern ACS 80-4 analytical balance 82 g / 0.0001 g

Product information "Kern ACS 80-4 analytical balance 82 g / 0.0001 g"

The Kern ACS is an analytical balance with a single-cell weighing system and a plastic housing that is adjusted with an external weight. Four models weigh from 82 g to 320 g and read to 0.0001 g. Readability, reproducibility (0.0002 g), linearity (± 0.0003 g) and stabilisation time (3 s) are the same for all models. The models differ in their weighing range.

External adjustment with the CAL programme

The accuracy is adjusted with the CAL adjustment programme and an external adjustment weight. According to Kern, external test weights are available at extra cost. For the ACS 100-4, Kern recommends an adjustment weight of 100 g (E2); the test weight 316-07 and the Safety Set 315-107-103 are also available. Kern does not list an internal automatic adjustment for the ACS. Anyone who needs it will find it in the Kern ACJ.

Weighing, formulating and data output

A high-stability mode and other filter settings are available as a dosing aid. When formulating, the balance automatically numbers the mixture components and prints them with number and weight value; tare and print are combined on one key. The four-digit balance identification number is freely programmable and appears in the adjustment report. After each standstill of the balance, the data go automatically to a PC or printer via RS-232 or USB device.

Units and functions

The ACS supports 15 units, including g, mg, ct, gn, dwt, ozt and oz. There are also piece counting (minimum unit weight 1 mg under laboratory conditions, 10 mg under standard conditions), percentage determination, density determination, Net-Total and measuring with tolerance range. The LCD display has digits 14 mm high. The stainless steel weighing pan has a diameter of 91 mm; the weighing chamber behind the glass draught shield measures 174 x 162 x 227 mm. The spirit level and adjustable feet are used for levelling.

Typical applications

  • Pharmacies: weighing in formulation components with a numbered printout
  • Food analysis: percentage and density determination
  • Environmental analysis: sample weighing with balance ID in the adjustment report
  • Chemical industry: preparing solutions
  • Research and development: weighing in portions in the milligram range

Because only the weighing range differs, the largest weight to be weighed decides: the ACS 80-4 weighs up to 82 g, the ACS 100-4 up to 120 g, the ACS 200-4 up to 220 g and the ACS 300-4 up to 320 g. At approx. 7 kg, the ACS 80-4 is slightly heavier than the other three (approx. 6 kg).

Calibration and conformity assessment

A DAkkS calibration certificate (item no. 963-101) can be ordered separately. The confirmation of manufacturer specification (969-517) is only available in conjunction with the DAkkS calibration certificate. For the ACS, Kern specifies neither a verification value nor a conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU). Anyone who needs such a conformity assessment should ask for a model with this option.

Scope of delivery

  • Kern ACS analytical balance with stainless steel weighing pan (Ø 91 mm) and glass draught shield
  • Working protective cover
  • Plug-in mains adaptor with country adaptors for EU, AUS, UK, US and CH

Warranty

According to Kern & Sohn, these devices come with a 3-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.
