Kern compact counting balance CPE 15K-3, 15 kg / 0.5 g, three displays

Product information "Kern compact counting balance CPE 15K-3, 15 kg / 0.5 g, three displays"

The Kern CPE 15K-3 has a weighing range of up to 15 kilograms and a readability of 0.5 grams. Unlike the smaller Kern CPE 6K-3, the focus here is on larger batches and heavier individual items weighing 5 grams or more, whilst maintaining the same counting resolution of 30,000 steps. Fittings, larger screws or packaging components are weighed during goods receipt or order picking rather than counted by hand.

Three displays and a 15-kilogram capacity for larger batches

Three separate displays show weight, reference weight and quantity simultaneously, supplemented by a totalisation function. With a weighing range of up to 15 kilograms, the CPE 15K-3 accommodates significantly larger quantities than its smaller counterpart, the CPE 6K-3. Reproducibility and linearity are 0.5 grams and ± 1.5 grams respectively; as with the smaller model, the stainless steel weighing pan measures 230 x 300 millimetres. Under normal conditions, the smallest countable unit weight is 5 grams, making it suitable for items such as fittings, larger screws or packaging accessories.

External adjustment

The CPE 15K-3 is adjusted externally at a selectable adjustment point of 5, 10 or 15 kilograms. Kern specifies 10-kilogram and 2-kilogram adjustment weights of accuracy class F2.

Tolerance weighing with audible and visual signals

Like the smaller CPE 6K-3, the CPE 15K-3 is also capable of tolerance weighing. If the weight falls outside a specified tolerance range, the instrument signals this with an audible and visual alert, which is useful for the rapid inspection of batches or filled packages during operation.

Display, interface and operation

The LCD display shows values with 20-millimetre-high digits. A printer for weighing reports can be connected via the RS-232 interface. The plastic housing and stainless steel weighing pan are designed for daily use in the warehouse, whilst battery operation means the scales are not dependent on a fixed power socket being within reach. It operates at ambient temperatures of 0 to 40 °C; according to the manufacturer, the device contains no substances prohibited under REACH.

Weight

The CPE 15K-3 has a net weight of 3.2 kilograms, the same as the Kern CPE 6K-3, with identical housing dimensions.

Regulatory information

As an electrical device, the balance falls under the ElektroG. The manufacturer Kern & Sohn GmbH is registered under the WEEE registration number DE 80821200. How to return old appliances is described on the page Environment and disposal.

Frequently asked questions about the CPE 15K-3

What distinguishes the CPE 15K-3 from the CPE 6K-3?

The CPE 15K-3 covers a weighing range up to 15 kilograms with a readability of 0.5 grams; the smallest countable unit weight is 5 grams. The Kern CPE 6K-3 has a capacity of up to 6 kilograms, with a readability of 0.2 grams and a minimum unit weight of 2 grams.

How does tolerance weighing work?

If the measured weight falls outside a predefined tolerance range, the CPE 15K-3 signals this via an audible and a visual alert.

How is the CPE 15K-3 adjusted?

Externally, at a selectable adjustment point of 5, 10 or 15 kilograms. Kern specifies 10-kilogram and 2-kilogram adjustment weights of accuracy class F2.

Can a printer be connected?

Yes, weighing reports can be transferred to a printer via the RS-232 serial interface.

How long is the warranty?

According to Kern & Sohn, this device comes with a 2-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.

Typical applications

Kern identifies four main areas of application for the CPE 15K-3, where the counting of larger quantities and heavier parts is required.

  • Order picking and stocktaking
  • Packaging industry
  • Quality control
  • Dispatch

CPE 15K-3 or CPE 6K-3: choosing the right weighing range

Within the CPE 3 series, the CPE 15K-3 differs from the smaller CPE 6K-3 primarily in terms of weighing range and readability. If you regularly count larger or heavier batches of up to 15 kilograms, the CPE 15K-3 is suitable. Those who mainly count small, light parts weighing 2 grams or more and require the finer readability of 0.2 grams will find the CPE 6K-3 to be the suitable alternative. Both models have the same housing and weighing pan dimensions.
