Kern CPB 30K5DM counting balance 15 kg and 30 kg / 5 g and 10 g

Product information "Kern CPB 30K5DM counting balance 15 kg and 30 kg / 5 g and 10 g"

The Kern CPB is a counting balance with three displays, a fill-to-target function and a counting resolution of 60,000. There are six models available in two designs. The models ending in N (CPB 6K0.1N, 15K0.2N and 30K0.5N) have a weighing range of 6 kg, 15 kg or 30 kg. The models ending in DM (CPB 6K1DM, 15K2DM and 30K5DM) are multi-interval balances with two weighing ranges and can optionally be ordered with a conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU).

N or DM: which design is suitable

The N models are single-range balances with a readability of 0.1 g to 0.5 g. They are not verifiable. The DM models operate with two ranges: as the load increases or decreases, the balance automatically switches to the next higher or lower weighing range and the corresponding readability. For example, the CPB 15K2DM has a readability of 2 g up to 6 kg and 5 g above that up to 15 kg. The readability on the DM models is coarser than on the N models; however, the option of conformity assessment is available.

Verifiability per model

Conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU) is only available for the DM models, item no. 965-228 for the CPB 6K1DM, 15K2DM and 30K5DM. This is optional and can only be arranged ex works; according to Kern, a retrospective conformity assessment is not possible. To place an order, Kern needs the full address of the installation site. With conformity assessment, accuracy class III applies; the verification value e corresponds to the readability of the respective range (model table). Kern does not specify a conformity assessment for the three N models.

Counting with three displays

The three displays, with 20 mm high digits, show the weight, reference weight and total count simultaneously. The reference weight is entered via the keypad, alternatively a reference piece count. The automatic reference optimisation gradually improves the average value of the unit weight. The count totalising memory adds identical counted items to the total piece count and total weight. The minimum unit weight for piece counting ranges, depending on the model, from 100 mg to 500 mg under laboratory conditions and from 1 g to 5 g under standard conditions.

Target values and containers

The Fill-to-target function allows you to programme a target number of items or a target weight; an audible signal indicates when this has been reached. The PRE-TARE function manually subtracts the known weight of a container in advance; according to Kern, this is useful for fill quantity checks. At the touch of a button, the balance switches from counting mode to weighing mode. Accessories include a stainless steel fruit bowl (RFS-A02) and a signal lamp (CFS-A03).

Set-up and adjustment

The stainless steel weighing pan measures 295 x 225 mm on all six models, whilst the plastic housing measures 315 x 350 x 100 mm. With the display fitted, the device is 125 mm high. Adjustment is carried out using an external weight; the recommended weights and adjustment points are listed in the model table. This does not replace a calibration certificate, which is available separately (see below). A spirit level and adjustable feet are part of the equipment. The data sheet gives degree of protection IP65 of the load cell for the CPB 6K0.1N and the CPB 15K2DM; for the other models Kern gives no information on this.

Power supply, rechargeable battery and interface

The balances run on a plug-in mains adaptor for 100 V to 240 V; country adaptors for EU, UK, US and CH are included. An internal lead-acid rechargeable battery (GAB-A04) is optional. According to the data sheet, it lasts 90 h with the backlight off and 50 h with the backlight on and charges in 12 h. RS-232 is fitted as standard, as is the KCP command set. For USB, Ethernet, WLAN and Bluetooth, Kern offers converters and adaptors.

Typical applications

  • Order picking and stocktaking: piece count from weight, target piece count with signal
  • Packaging industry: fill quantity check with container weight deducted
  • Electronics industry: counting small parts from a unit weight of 100 mg
  • Plastics technology and production monitoring: checking the number of items in batches
  • Applications with conformity assessment: DM models, ordered ex works

The N models are suitable when finer readability is important and the result is not used for official purposes. The DM models are suitable when the balance requires a conformity assessment.
