The Kern CXB 30K2 is a counting balance for stocktaking and order picking with a weighing range of 30 kg and a readability of 2 g. It calculates the total piece count from the weight of a reference part. Kern describes it as an entry-level model for professional counting, with a counting resolution of 30,000 points.
Three displays and reference weight
Three displays show total weight, reference weight and total piece count at the same time. The digits are 18 mm high, and the display is backlit. The reference piece count or reference weight is entered via the keypad, and ten reference weights can be stored. Automatic reference optimisation progressively improves the average piece weight. The cumulative count memory adds identical items to the total count and total weight. The smallest piece weight when counting is 2 g under laboratory conditions.
Fill-to-target and PRE-TARE
With the fill-to-target function, a target piece count or target weight is programmed. The balance signals that the target value has been reached with an audible and visual signal. PRE-TARE subtracts the known weight of a container in advance, which is useful for fill quantity checks. At the touch of a button, the balance switches from counting mode to weighing mode.
Rechargeable battery and mains operation
The balance has a built-in rechargeable battery. Kern specifies an operating time of 200 hours with the backlight switched off and 60 hours with the backlight on; the charging time is 8 hours. The backlight switches off after 5 seconds. The power supply is built in (220 V to 240 V AC, 50 Hz); a mains adaptor for the EU is part of the scope of delivery, and adaptors for the UK and Switzerland are optional. According to Kern, integrated ESD protection makes the balance suitable for weighing small plastic parts.
Weighing pan and housing
The stainless steel weighing pan measures 300 x 225 mm, and the plastic housing 300 x 330 x 110 mm. A spirit level and adjustable screw feet are provided. Adjustment is external; Kern recommends 20 kg and 10 kg of class M1. The balance weighs 4.0 kg net, and the permissible conditions are -10 °C to 40 °C and 15 % to 85 % humidity.
