Kern CXB 3K0.2 counting balance 3 kg / 0.2 g

Product information "Kern CXB 3K0.2 counting balance 3 kg / 0.2 g"

The Kern CXB is a counting balance for stocktaking and order picking with three displays, a fill-to-target function and a built-in rechargeable battery. Kern calls it an entry-level model for professional counting. Eight models are available, weighing up to 3 kg, 6 kg, 15 kg or 30 kg. Four of them have the ending NM (CXB 3K1NM, 6K2NM, 15K5NM and 30K10NM) and can optionally be ordered with a conformity assessment under the NAWI Directive (2014/31/EU). The other four (CXB 3K0.2, 6K0.5, 15K1 and 30K2) have a finer readability and are not verifiable.

Verifiable and non-verifiable models

Same weighing range, but different readability: the CXB 3K0.2 has a readability of 0.2 g, whilst the CXB 3K1NM has a readability of 1 g. Accordingly, the CXB 6K0.5 and 6K2NM, the CXB 15K1 and 15K5NM, and the CXB 30K2 and 30K10NM are comparable models. The NM models have a coarser readability; their verification value e corresponds to the readability. With conformity assessment, accuracy class III applies. The minimum load is 20 g (CXB 3K1NM), 40 g (6K2NM), 100 g (15K5NM) and 200 g (30K10NM). Conformity assessment is only possible ex works: item no. 965-227 for the CXB 3K1NM, item no. 965-228 for the CXB 6K2NM, 15K5NM and 30K10NM. According to Kern, a retrospective conformity assessment is not possible. To place an order, Kern needs the full address of the installation site.

Counting and fill-to-target

Three displays with 18 mm high digits show total weight, reference weight and total piece count simultaneously. The reference piece count or reference weight is entered via the keypad; ten reference weights can be stored. The automatic reference optimisation gradually improves the average value of the unit weight. The count totalising memory adds identical counted items to the total piece count and total weight. Depending on the model, the minimum unit weight for piece counting ranges from 200 mg to 10 g under laboratory conditions (model table).

With the fill-to-target function, a target piece count or a target weight is programmed; reaching it is indicated by an audible and visual signal. The PRE-TARE function subtracts the known weight of a container in advance. At the touch of a button, the balance switches from counting mode to weighing mode. According to Kern, integrated ESD protection makes the balance suitable for weighing small plastic parts.

Rechargeable battery and mains connection

The built-in lead-acid rechargeable battery (6 V, 4 Ah) is part of the scope of delivery. According to the data sheet, it lasts 200 h with the backlight off and 60 h with the backlight on and charges in 8 h. The backlight switches off after 5 s; automatic switch-off in battery operation can be selected. The power supply is built in (220 V to 240 V AC, 50 Hz); it is connected via an IEC power cable. The EU version is part of the scope of delivery; cables for UK and CH are also available.

Weighing pan, housing and adjustment

All models have the same stainless steel weighing pan measuring 300 x 225 mm and a plastic housing measuring 300 x 330 x 110 mm. A spirit level and adjustable feet are part of the equipment. Adjustment is carried out externally using class M1 weights; the recommended values are listed in the model table. This does not replace a calibration certificate, which is available separately (see below). The permissible range is -10 °C to 40 °C and 15 % to 85 % humidity.

Typical applications

  • Warehouse logistics: stocktaking of parts up to 30 kg total weight
  • Packaging industry: order picking by target piece count or target weight
  • Retail: counting and weighing in weighing mode
  • Fill quantity check with container weight deducted
  • Counting small plastic parts thanks to ESD protection

For stocktaking and order picking without official use, the models with fine readability are suitable. Anyone who needs a conformity assessment orders one of the NM models with the option straight away.
