The Kern EWJ 600-2SM is a compact precision balance for everyday laboratory use, with a weighing range of up to 600 grams and a readability of 0.01 grams. The balance calibrates itself automatically at regular intervals, every two hours as standard, without the need for an external calibration weight or user intervention. If you require a calibrated display for the same balance, you should order the conformity assessment in accordance with the NAWI Calibration Directive (2014/31/EU) at the same time as the balance. Subsequent initial calibration is not possible.
Automatic internal calibration
The EWJ 600-2SM features an automatic internal calibration system that recalibrates at standard intervals of every two hours. Reproducibility and linearity are 0.01 gram and ± 0.03 gram respectively, whilst the resolution is 60,000 parts per unit. Once the sample has been placed on the balance, the reading stabilises within 2 seconds. According to Kern, a minimum sample weight of 20 grams is required to achieve a measurement uncertainty of 0.1 per cent at k=2.
Calibration optional: NAWI conformity assessment
In its standard configuration, the EWJ 600-2SM is an uncalibrated precision balance. For applications requiring a calibrated display, conformity assessment in accordance with the NAWI Calibration Directive (2014/31/EU) can be ordered as an option (item no. 965-216), but only in conjunction with the balance ex works. Subsequent initial verification is not possible. In the verified version, the verification value (e) is 0.1 grammes, and the smallest verifiable load is 0.5 grammes.
Weighing plate, draught shield and housing
The weighing plate has a diameter of 120 millimetres and is made of stainless steel, as is the weighing platform. The supplied draught shield is rectangular and removable; its internal dimensions are 134 x 128 x 80 millimetres, and its external dimensions are 144 x 139 x 81 millimetres. When fully assembled, the housing has external dimensions of 220 x 340 x 180 millimetres, and the net weight is 2.8 kilograms. The aluminium load cell is silicone-coated and protected against dust and water jets in accordance with IP65.
Interfaces: Basic model without data connection, Bluetooth optional
In the basic model, the EWJ 600-2SM has no data interface. Users wishing to process measured values digitally can choose between Bluetooth BTC version 2.0 and Bluetooth BLE version 4.0 ex-works.
