The Kern OZB-UP range comprises eight large universal stands for stereo microscopes. They have a column height of 515 mm and a mounting diameter of 37 mm for the universal stand. There are three arm types (telescopic arm, articulating arm and ball-bearing double arm) and three mounting options for each: free-standing on a plate, clamped to the table edge or with screws in the centre of the table. The stands are supplied without holders and are purely mechanical. Kern describes the large universal stands as a pedestal-base variant, optionally with a table clamp for the table edge or for central mounting on a desk or workbench.
Comparison of arm types
The telescopic arm is 614 mm long, the articulating arm 553 mm and the ball-bearing double arm 545 mm. The telescopic arm therefore has the greatest reach. The arms differ in the way the head is guided. The data sheet gives no information on mobility or load capacity; the weight of the intended head should therefore be checked with our advisory service.
Plate, clamp or screws
With a base plate (OZB-A5201, OZB-A5203), the stand is freestanding; it then weighs 18 kg and 22 kg. When fitted with a clamp (OZB-A5211, OZB-A5212, OZB-A5213), it is attached to the edge of the table; the clamp can grip table tops up to 62 mm thick, and the weight is reduced to between 6 and 9 kg. It is mounted in the centre of the table using screws (OZB-A5221, OZB-A5222, OZB-A5223), which requires a hole to be drilled in the tabletop. These stands weigh between 8 and 9 kg.
Holder and head
All eight stands are described without holders. The head mount has a diameter of 76 mm. Kern lists the items OZB-A5301 and OZB-A5306 as holders for stereo microscope stands. The accessories for the OZM 544 stereo zoom microscope include the stands OZB-A5201, OZB-A5203, OZB-A5211, OZB-A5212 and OZB-A5213; Kern thereby lists them for heads in the OZM series.

Warranty
According to Kern & Sohn, these components come with a 2-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.
