The Kern OZB-UE range comprises six universal stands for stereo microscopes. Four of these are the small universal stands with a column height of 430 mm: telescopic arm or ball-bearing double arm, each mounted on a base plate or with a table clamp. Two are spring-loaded articulating arm stands with clamp and holder, including coarse focus. The stands are mechanical components with no electrical parts. The microscope head, illumination and, where applicable, the holder are selected separately; Kern refers to this concept as a modular system in which heads, stands and external illumination units can be combined according to the application.
Small universal stands with a column
The OZB-A1201, OZB-A1203, OZB-A1211 and OZB-A1213 stands have a column height of 430 mm and a mounting diameter of 32 mm for the universal stand. The head mount has a diameter of 76 mm. The telescopic arm is 385 mm long, while the ball-bearing double arm is 480 mm long. With the base plate, they stand freely on the table (12 kg and 19 kg); with the clamp, they are secured to the edge of the table (10 kg and 15 kg). The clamp on the OZB-A1211 can grip table thicknesses of up to 40 mm, while that on the OZB-A1213 can grip up to 62 mm. According to the brochure, all four are supplied without a holder.
Spring-loaded articulating stand with coarse focus
The two spring-jointed stands are designed for day-to-day work with the stereo microscope and, according to Kern, now feature a coarse focus mechanism for simple and flexible focusing. The arm of the OZB-A6302 operates using a gas spring, while that of the OZB-A6303 uses a helical compression spring. The OZB-A6302 is 525 mm high, has an arm length of 620 mm and weighs approximately 4.6 kg. The OZB-A6303 is 400 mm high, has an 850 mm-long arm and weighs approximately 7 kg. Both are supplied with a clamp for table tops up to 50 mm thick and a bolder. The head mount on the OZB-A6302 has a diameter of 76 mm.
Plate or clamp
The plate stabilises the stand without the need to modify the table surface. The table clamp saves space on the table; the clamping range determines the maximum thickness of the tabletop. The choice depends on the table edge, the weight of the head and the desired reach.

Warranty
According to Kern & Sohn, these components come with a 2-year warranty. Kern grants 3 years on products with a list price of €500 or more and 2 years on products below that and on components; wear parts such as batteries and rechargeable batteries are excluded. Warranty repairs are carried out by Kern or by a Kern dealer.

The OZB-A1201, OZB-A1203, OZB-A1211 and OZB-A1213 stands are supplied without bolders. For Kern’s large universal stands, the brochure lists the holders OZB-A5301 and OZB-A5306. We will check whether they are compatible with these stands before placing the order. Enquiries are handled via our procurement service.
